Looking at the cost of the latest map issues, I was wondering if I could swap the Western Europe map in my TT720 and install the GB map instead as it's significantly cheaper. Thing is, I would want to use my W Europe map at some time in the future. Can the maps be swapped around ? I was thinking perhaps that the GB map could be put on SD card and then somehow tell the TT720 to use that map instead.
Advice appreciated. _________________ TT720 T

There is nothing wrong in what you are suggesting and it will work fine - Just remember to update the POI files (especially speed cameras) in BOTH map folders though when you need to in order to keep the data current - Mike |

Can't remember if your model can use internal memory and SD card at same time... if it can, simply copy the map files to your SD card. If it cannot, copy *everything* from your device's internal memory to your SD card (make sure you get a compatible one, see other posts for that. I recently got an Sandisk Ultra ii)
then,
Power the device off, insert SD card and reset device and power on. You will hear a drum solo and see a progress bar along the screen bottom. Wait for the unit to boot up (it may take a while to fix its location) and then plan a few routes etc to check the map and card are working correctly. Your favourites etc should be there. You now have your existing map on a card ready for use later.
Turn unit off, remove card, reset and reboot. Delete the map folder (or copy it to PC) and install your new map. Again, check the new map works correctly (it will take a while to fix its location).
In my TT One, it cannot use flash and card memory at the same time, so I have to reset it when swapping the card in or out. That may apply to yours also.
If you have the complete system files on the card you can update it simply by inserting it in a card reader and starting TTHome - it will see it as a TT device. If you only have the map on it, you will have to put it in your device to update it.
OR, if you have enough space on your internal memory, install the new map along side the old one. You can then switch maps whenever you like. |

The 720 can use the internal Flash memory and SD card at the same time, this is exactly how my device is currently set up with Western Europe on the Flash and Western & Central Europe on the SD card, I also have an Australia map on the SD card - all three maps are available for selection from the Manage Maps/ Switch Map screen - Mike |
