Mike,
How do you input W as my options on the 730 are N or S only? And there is no space or comma!!

Go to Prepare Route and choose Latitude/ Longitude:
You enter the first value as N53,79919 (Latitude) - the decimal place should sencond from the left on the lowest row of buttons, press OK
Now enter the second figure W2,73007 (Longitude) the NS/ EW will be displayed automatically depending on whether you are entering Lat or Long - Mike |

I don't think jymhall has been trying to see it in use. His problem is that he can't enable it.

The map or map version you are using is not compatible with lane guidance. For more information, visit www.tomtom.com |

A "reset" using the hole on the bottom won't change any version numbers at all, it just re-boots the program.
Try that first.
If it still doeasn't work, make sure you have done a FULL backup with windows explorer (not TT Home) and then come back for details on removing and re-downloading the software. |

To answer jymhall's original question. Are you trying to set lane guidance while using a dock station and Home. If so it gives the message you describe. Try it undocked |

A couple things to try: definitely reset your device, see if its just a simple cache error. See if you can upgrade to the newest map update, just for a refresh ... If that doesn't work, see if the ALG works with other streets in the area.
Someone else in the thread said that it worked for them on that street, so one of these methods will surely get your ALG up and running soon. |

Its not to do with the docking station(the icon is 'ghosted' while docked) and as a few people have said its doesn't appear to be turned on(ALG) as opposed to just not having seen it working.
I tried the reset button on the bottom(Iwas reluctant to before in case I lost data)
There's a factory reset in the pref menu, I'll try that but what will I lose if i do this? |

Hi jymhall
You said “There's a factory reset in the pref menu, I'll try that but what will I lose if I do this?”
The answer to that is ‘Nothing’ provided you have made a windows backup. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Pressing the reset button will loose nothing at all, using the restore factory defaults will wipe out POI Warnings, Home location etc - it all has to be set up again, but it is certainly worth a try.
There is also the "Clear Flash" tool but I doubt that will fix this issue, you have little to loose to be honest - Mike |

Where in the country are you located? - the reason I ask is we are having a meet in Manchester next weekend, if its miles away from you forget the idea, but if you can make it there will be a few of us there that should be able to fix this issue or at least work out what is wrong with it, diagnosing this issue much further is rather difficult without seeing the device. It could even be down to a file or files missing in the map folder - Mike |

Hi, sorry haven't replied I was gigging and in the studio over the weekend/begining of this week. I live in London so it would have been too far anyway. Looks like I might have to see if I can get a refund... |
