|
|
Hi everyone I'm new to this forum I have just bought a TT Go 730T second hand from ebay.
Its a great piece of kit the only thing is I can't get the lane guidance funvtion to work.
When I try to enable it it says the maps aren't correct and go to TomTom.com for more info. Well I hd a look and found nothing and I've searched on here and still can't find anything.
Can anyone help? surely the maps should be up to date as it comes with lane guidance as standard!
Thanks in advance! |

Which version of application and map is your 730 saying that it has installed?
To check this, touch the screen where it shows satellite signal as below:
then touch where it shows "version xxxxx"
Then, you'll see a screen as below:

Map 'Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB' v800.1762
Looks like it might be the map version, but why did it come with outdated maps?? |

That was the map version that the 730 shipped with when it was first launched. The lane guidance features worked OK for me with that map. _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

Haven't got my 930T with me, but if I remember, you can turn lane guidance off and on in the control panel options. |

That's correct. I would double-check your preferences. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

I tried the lane guidance button in the preferences menu and it says;
The map or map version you are using is not compatible with lane guidance. For more information, visit www.tomtom.com
Anyone got any ideas? |

That's the message people were getting when TomTom released app 8010 for x20 devices that were running v7 maps, but I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with v8 maps. Have you tried phoning TomTom? The number's 0845 161 0009.
Your only option may be to buy new maps from here. They have a sale at the moment with Western Europe v8.05 at £59.95 (£20 off), and GB & RoI at £39.95 (£10 off). _________________ Anita

I'd try my luck with TomTom customer service first, they are awful in general, but it's got to be worth a shot, leave buying a new map as a last resort. Does your IQ routes work, would be strange if one worked without the other, although the PO may have screwed something up and got rid of it because of this.
IMO the IQ routes is the best feature anyway - not sure if ALG is worth the cost of a new map. (Well, if late at night I turn IQ off, IQ only seems to do sensible things during day) |

Out of interest, if you follow the instructions in my earlier post, it does say 730, not 720 at the top left of the info screen _________________ Andy

Yeah it says 730, I really don't want to buy new maps. It should work as its 730, would resetting the unit help? When you update the TomTom for free is it just map corrections that are changed? |

You can turn the Lane Guidance on and off in change preferences, also if you have the info bar displayed vertically down the screen this also disables the lane guidance - switching it to Horizontal (Change Preferences/ Status Bar Preferences) will fix this issue - it should certainly work with the map version installed - Mike |

Not all junctions have this feature, in fact there are probably less that have it then those that do, to make sure this is indeed working on your device try the following:
Use Advanced Planning (AtoB) and set a depature point of:
N53,79919 W2,73007
Set a destination of:
N53,75600 W2,63806
Once the route is planned press "Details" then show Route Demo with the speed set to around 100% you will see the Reality View/ Lane Assist twice as the M55 changes to the Southbound M6, next repeat the above with Change Preferences/ Show Lane Images disabled to only see the lane assist function without the prety pictures.
If the above works for your device where have you been trying to see the assistance in use? - Mike |
