I have a HP5550 ipaq and I connected a cable up incorrectly via a car cradle. Since then the IPAQ won't boot up. I get the initial blue HP screen but it won't pass that. I cannot log in through active sync either.
I think it is dead but in case anyone has had a similar problem with a solution I thought it worth a try.

Have you tried to hard reset the ipaq, this should re-load the OS and will wipe out any of your data stored on the device, but I don't see as you have anything to lose.
To Hard Reset the unit press and hold the Calender button and iTask Button, at the same time as holding down these two buttons press and hold the reset with the stylus until the screen goes blank.
Release all the buttons and use the stylus to reset the unit, it might come back to life - Mike |

Don't you then have to apply power to the unit to get it to reboot, or was that for the earlier 39xx series? I have one of each but can't remember which one needs this extra step. _________________ Tim |

I have tried all the reset options but no good. I fear it may have blown something internally but have fingers crossed just in case. Gonna stick on eBay for someone to use as spares.
