|
|
The transfer to/from Mapsource worked initially but the "receive from device" option stopped working recently - I can still "send to device".
I made a back-up of my 760 when I first got it. I can't recall what the original software version was but I have upgraded to v3.00 I'm considering reloading the software but haven't done this before.
Is it a case of deleting all files on the unit and pasting the original files back onto the unit? Are there any hidden files? Where is the unlock code?
Any advise appreciated. |

In theory all you should need to do is delete the existing files and copy the original ones back to the unit. I say in theory because I've never actually done it.
To make sure you get all the files including hidden ones (i don't recall there being any) just switch on Show Hidden Files in Windows Explorer
Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, Show Hidden Files and Folders
Personally i would trying reinstalling MapSource first. Latest version is here |

I had a similar problem a while ago on my 760. I ended up doing a full reset to erase the user data (press the bottom right corner of the screen and switch the unit on while you keep on pressing until you get a prompt to clear the user data). Take a backup first of course.
That fixed the issue with not being able to download to MapSource.
After some more investigating and comparing files, I found that the current.gpx file that had been on the Nuvi was corrupt. One of the "name" fields had a string of 12 or so question mark characters at the end of it. I assume that the Nuvi could cope with this but MapSource couldn't, which was why I couldn't download to it. Hand-editing the file, removing the offending characters, and uploading it back to the Nuvi resolved the problem.
Hope this helps in your case. |
