|
|
Hi, I am running software version 8.010 on my tt720. How do I use the gps coordinates. On Archee's website for caravan sites the coordinates are for + or - . On tt it is N or S. If I enter the numbers they are not accepted. In preferencies the units can be set to, d.d , d.m.m or d m s. Would this effect the way it is displayed. If this has already been discussed I would appreciate a link to it. If not, could somebody please explain how to use the coordinates please.
Thank you. David |

Choose the one that suits your particular requirements.
D.D is degrees in a decimal format.
D.M.M is degrees but with minutes in decimal.
and D.M.S is the standard degrees minutes and seconds.
The + and - refer to N or E (+)
and W or S (-) |

Hi Jolly Roger, I can only see N and S to enter a coordinate. I am missing something. Thank you. David. The coordinates I am trying to enter only say + or minus. Could you be a bit more explicit. |

Isn't + North and - South (maybe other way around)
and for the other bit
+ is West and - is East or other way around
I reckon + maybe N and E
and - maybe S and W.
But I am not sure, just give it a try
Just checked on the intra web as well, if you look at this page (first one I found) it kind of explains South is - and so is West. North and East are +. Anyway this is the site that kind of shows
http://sps.unavco.org/geoid/
If you can tell us what the co-ordinates are and I'll try it
Cheers

Sorry if I appear thick but the only options I see on TT is N and S. I don't have the option of E and W. The coordinates I am given are (+ - )45.34653/01.51506. Sometimes, when I press OK it changes to E and W, but I obviously don't knoe how to enter a coordinate. Any help how too would be appreciated.
David
PS. Make it simle please!!! |

That would appear to be decimal degree format:
which you will enter as follows:
N 45.34653 (Press Next)
E 01.51506 (press Next)
if a value is + you enter either N or E
if a value is - you enter either S or W

after entering the north (or south) coordinate, you will then be prompted to enter the east (or west) after pressing next :D
hope that helps!

I am sorry but on my screen I don't have the option of "Next" First of all it comes up as N and S. If I tap the OK button it changes to E and W. You all do it all the time but I have only started to use co-ordinates and I am stuffed!!!!

Follow the instructions in Mike Alder's post carefully, although where he says "Press Next" it should be "Press OK".
The Latitude screen consists of numbers, symbols and the letters N and S.
You need to enter N45.34653 then press OK
The latitude coordinates have now been accepted, and you will then be presented with the Longitude screen, which consists of numbers, symbols and the letters E and W.
You need to enter E01.51506 then press OK
The longitude coordinates are now accepted and you will be presented with a map showing the position you have entered. _________________ Anita

The co-ordinates you gave are in France just South of "Bleygeat", hope this is right, between Tulle and Perigueux. |

Thanks Anita, followed your explaination, and it has directed me to my destination. One question, how do you know if you should be entering, N, S,,E or W?
Thank you. David |

Latitude is either N (+) or S (-)
Longitude is either E (+) or W (-)
At the top of the screen the device will state which value you have to enter as "Latitude" or "Longitude"

On the first screen (Latitude) if the coordinates you have are a positive number (+ sign or no sign) you enter N, if negative (- sign) you enter S.
On the second screen (Longitude) if the coordinates you have are a positive number (+ sign or no sign) you enter E, if negative (- sign) you enter W. _________________ Anita
