Ideally we'd need it for the end of next months holiday, so would it be prudent to wait until the new maps have come out and get my free upgrade within the 30 day period? |
Nobody knows for sure, but the current discount lasts until the end of July - so it's not likely to be before August at the earliest.
Maps are often released several times a year, so it's possible that something might happen in August and again before year end.
If you don't need a GPS for a while, might it be worth holding back on a 520 and hoping that the v8 maps are released before you 30 day LMG expires?
I'm guessing that your holiday is at the end of August, so you might have a little flexibility when it comes to the timescale of buying a unit.
...bear in mind that several people have had difficulty getting the latest maps out of TomTom and there might be a battle of wills when it comes to LMG.
Another question might be to ask how long you are away for and if you take the 530 route, will you have time to take up LMG upon your return if you leave the maps as they are for your holiday - ie if the 530 comes with 8.0 installed, you might want to wait and see if 8.10 maps are released rather than using LMG to update to 8.05 before your holiday.
Whether more maps will be released in time for your holiday and if these will be covered under LMG might be a bit of a gamble.
I'm not sure if this is really helpful or not, but it seems to be what's happening in the real world. _________________ Andy

a quick question about, the IQ routes.
is it an optional setting or is is permanent.
as a taxi driver some customers are not happy at getting there 3 minutes earlier, if its cost them an extra 0.7 of a mile
cheers jimmy |

I thought that taxi drivers drove wherever they wanted and that the passengers did not give directions ! _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

tried to buy one from halfords tonight.
i reserved it online but when i went to pick it up, the sales reps said i was wasting my money on the tomtom as there had been so many returns.
and the fact that tomtom will not swap out for a new one if a fault arises
even in the first 12 months.
never had a problem with my tomtom one its over 2 years old.
but i have read some horror stories about free map upgrades that tomtom
have not honoured. |
