I'm new to all this mapsource etc, I just got my eTrex this morning so its the first time i've seen it !

Without derailing the thread too much, what is mapsource and what does it do! I also downloaded Maploader as well but again I don't know what it does ?

It also doesn't like finding my eTrex either saying it cannot find it connected although on the unit itself it says USB connected ??

Hi Gareth,

Mapsource is Garmin's PC software which may be bundled with the GPS or sold as a separate product such as "Trip and Waypoint Manager". It allows you to transfer waypoints, routes and tracks between PC and GPS. It also includes one of various map types (depending on the price/product purchased) which can be transferred to a suitable GPS. The appearance of most of these maps can be examined on the Mapsource viewer on Garmin's website.

If you have specific problems with the interface between GPS and PC, you will need to give more details about the model, etc.
