I am trying to get the ID number off the new 4gb sd card i've just bought to facilitate a piece of freeware (utility) to run on my garmin 610...can anyone suggest a method I can use to obtain this number pls?
Either via my 610 or via my PC...here's hopin' |

what utility is it?
i wasnt aware of ANY software that will run on a garmin?

Does sound odd. If you tell us what the utility is, chances are we know it. What does the instruction say EXACTLY? |

Plug SD card into your PC (or connect Garmin to USB) and then type CHKDSK Drive: where Drive is the letter assigned to the SD card (eg CHKDSK j: ). Card ID is the 8 digit hexadecimal number as for a floppy or hard disk. |

thanks guys... it is a retrieval software for phone numbers.
it lets you store all of your saved mobile no's on your garmin from your phone.
you need the card id for the unit to recognise it |

now, forgive my ignorance, but i thought the 610 had bluetooth? in which case can't you just use the built in stuff to get your numbers etc onto the nuvi?

But if his phone does not have bluetooth?
But then why would he want the numbers on the satnav? |
