TomTom are selling the current maps at a reduced price until the end of July, so it's unlikely new maps will be available until at least early August. _________________ Anita

As the most recent maps only came out on May 6th, less than 8 weeks ago, there won't be any more for a month or two.
End of August is possible. |

My personal opinion is that unless you are going to make sure you get the v805 maps to get the extra functionality, or currently have a very old map installed, then it's probably not worth the bother. I usually struggle to find changes between one version and the next, and unless there has been a radical change to the town centre you are going to, a little bit of common sense (and reading road signs!) will normally allow you to navigate around anything that does happen to be different from your TomTom. |

Hi Daggers
You never said a truer word. Updated maps are a great idea but if one tries to keep up with the Joneses the money spent on the maps can become exorbitant.

Damn! I still haven’t got the hang of entering a Quote correctly. Never mind, I will get it right eventually. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Nope. Only version 8.05 maps AND Navcore 8.010 (maybe 8.05 for Europe). |

I too have taken the plunge and bought the v805.1801 maps and put them onto my 520. Rather annoyingly, some of the map data seems worse than my previous one, as close to where I live there's a 90 degree bend in a road which, over the years, TomTom have sometimes correctly treated as a bend, but other times must think of as a junction that you need to turn at. It was fine in the latest v7 map, but is back to a junction in the brand new v8 map!! I've not used Mapshare that often, but I'm not sure that this is something that I can easily flag, in the way you can with adding a roundabout, for example.
I have a question about ALG though. Under what circumstances will it show you this new feature? Is it only specific, major roads? The reason I ask is that there are some rather confusing dual carriageways / roundabouts near me that I had hoped would now tell me which lane to get myself into, but alas no.

Which "bit" of ALG? My understanding is that the blue arrows in the bottom left corner should be there for pretty much every junction, but the pretty picture is missing on quite a few. There was a post about it yesterday or the day before about one of the M25 junctions not having it. |

I don't have the 520 with me just now to check, but nothing looked different about it from the v7 maps I had before, in terms of turns. I wondered if it was just major motorway junctions? |
