Hi Eager, You can check which cameras we have on our download/reporting page here, just change the drop down to 'Canada' and then browse the Edmonton map.
We have some Edmonton cameras but if you add the ones we don't have you'll be in-line for a lifetime subscription see here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren,
The link you provided to Eager shows redlight cams but there appears to be no speed cam data.
I have redlight cams loaded into my Nuvi350 from Redlight Camera List Ltd.
They gave me the link to Pocket GPS World to find speed cam data.
Can you confirm that there is NO database available from Pocket GPS World that contains Calgary and Edmonton speed cam POIs?
Thanks,
Dennis |

Hi and welcome.
The database contains the cameras shown on the map linked to above. If a camera exists but isn't on that map we don't know about it...... yet. As Darren mentioned you could get yourself a Free Lifetime Subscription to the database by submitting missing cameras. If the camera was UK based you'd have to be a subscriber first before you'd qualify but in an attempt to boost the database outside the UK Free Lifetime Subs are being offered to non-subscribers. See here for the full details. Please also read this thread on what does and doesn't qualify. Please also note all submissions are subject to a verification process so it may take some time to award any Lifetime Subs. |

we do have speed cameras but so far I have only seen the mobile version (ie the cop with the laser pistol).
I fondly remember my trips in Ontario. On the highways there you get road signs where you can select from a menu - 120 $ for 10 over and 240 $ for 20 over (or similar) so you could adjust your speed to the travel budget. _________________ Lutz

Did the cops accept credit cards?
Did you get a discount for cash?

Yes, lots of speed cams here. 44 locations in Calgary alone. They only have a few cameras that they change locations of. I don't know how many cameras nor how often they change cameras. They also have vans that they move around. The nice thing about speed cams and traffic cams is that there are no points taken from your license. And showing up in court always has the fine reduced about 30-40%. There are companies that will go to court for you. They charge $60. They reduce the $240 ticket to $155 so it only saves you a little. But if you collect a few tickets it is worth it. I consider it a sort of tax for the rich. You can go fast if you have the money to pay for it. I found a free list of 800+ speed cam POIs for canada at: LINK REMOVED |

So, will this list be added to the database, or are there copyright issues ? |

We don't steal data from other web-sites so the answer is no. We'll stick to gathering data professionally. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm not suggesting you steal it, but surely there is no harm in asking if it could be added to the foremost database over here ? |

Fair enough, my apologies, I'm being overly defensive here! I guess nothing ventured nothing gained although i can't see why they would want to give us data, but I'll ask and get a hat ready to eat if they will _________________ Darren Griffin |
