Well, at least it looks like the free stickers aren't a scam and they could last a lifetime unless you count them becoming defunct when "they" design a new one - it'll be getting like your favourite footie team soon - new stickers every season.
So has anybody seen one (on someone else's vehicle) yet? _________________ Dennis

oh i wasn't suggesting it was a scam, just strange it never appeared on your map on the camera section till after i reported it, so there must be a reasonable explanation, again who will hold their hand up and say they reported it ? my guess no-one
edited to add last part of sentence

So what are you suggesting then? |
while this is totally off the topic of window stickers i feel i should reply.
i can only assume you are referring to gatso:53845 (Edleston Road) if not then correct me...
for this camera we had 5 submissions that were used as 'proof' of its existence submitted at the following dates/times (in chronological order)
2008-05-23 23:18:38
2008-05-24 10:49:50
2008-05-27 16:50:23
2008-05-27 19:40:53 <-- this was yours
2008-06-02 14:46:01
the icons do not show up as soon as they are submitted. they are pre-processed before that. chances are that it was 'activated' after the 3rd and 4th accepted submissions which happened to be within a few hours of yours - you do not get to see that there was already a submission from 3 days before...
you win some, you lose some.

Maybe you could consider an alternative off topic sticker?

Not 'waiting' though as you can wait all your life and won't get one. Waiting suggests some form of entitlement.
Might I suggest, 'Still WORKING towards ACHIEVING lifetime membership. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No. Gardenshed is still WAITING for his entitlement, even though he was almost 4 days late in reporting MaFt's example. |

Alas!! Some people wouldn't recognise a subtle marketing ploy if it jumped up and bit them!
My alternative sticker would be FOR SALE, not handed out free. Suitably gullible optimists would buy them immediately they reported their first camera. There could be repeat business in it if they changed cars, or damaged it whilst still waiting. We could set up stalls selling them at Motorway Service Stations and car parks for Stonehenge and The Angel Of The North, just like the RAC and AA recruiters. There would also be a trade in sales of stick-on stickers saying "Got it", a bit like those Sold stickers on For Sale boards.

and if you read my replies I NEVER suggested any ones integrity was in doubt, if however that was how it was interpreted then i apologise whole heartedly.

A gracious reply, Gardenshed.
The general point is though, that if MaFt keeps having to take the time to research EVERYBODY'S submissions like this, he'll never get the actual database updated! |

a point i fully agree with and hope there has been no ill feeling created,
is it possible though to add a simple list of new cameras and first noted date to the release date sheet already included? AND NO DON'T SPLIT THIS AND START A NEW THREAD |

Yes possible but much additional work and wholly unnecessary. If you qualify you'll get notified, it is as simple as that. _________________ Darren Griffin |
