So if this is the case, how did I and many others get hold of it? It must be one of those 'Unsolicited Marketing' thingies or SPAM or a virus?
8.010 is still working just fine here _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

I have no idea what you're talking about
On the other hand, I can kind of understand where TomTom are coming from because it's far easier for them to deny knowledge than to have to support something which has subsequently been withdrawn.
If you're fairly happy with what you've got, then I'd suggest sticking with it until TomTom decide to release Navcore v8 for the x20 range again. Otherwise, you might be better reverting back to v7.481 or v7.221 if that was more to your liking.
Personally, I can't see what the big deal is with this compass business - but that's probably just me. _________________ Andy

It seems to me that TomTom programmers have dropped another clanger (not as if they do it all the time ). And in preparation for when it was to be released to older users they ticked a box that made it available too early.
So rather than having to deal with all the extra support crap from the rest of us cos of all the new bugs on top of the existing ones, they withdrew it.
Well thats my take on it, as for me I have not got my TMC-RDS available at this time so cannot comment on the apparent resolution thus far. But not having to hang on the power button for time immemorial to switch on is a bonus for me.
As for the non cure for mobile handsfree stutter I have a bluetooth headset that works so I can live without.
Thats my opinion take or leave.

I've just upgraded my ONE XL to the new NavCore 8. I have the USA and Western Europe maps on a 2GB card.
It now takes over 2.5 minutes to boot-up (I thought I had read in this thread that it was quicker to boot), and it re-boots when I try and swap between maps.
Has anybody else found this, or is it my bad luck?
I was hoping that with v8 I could finally use my RDS-TMC receiver. Obviously not... |

Travelling down to Bournemouth and back from Hertfordshire the RD-TMC on my One XL was showing solid green all the way. Which was a first. It even showed the road works on the M27 at Rownham as having 'no delay' which was correct for the first time (normally it increased arrival time by over an hour with no actual hold up). At one stage I wondered if the software update had forced the 'green light' to be on permanently, irrespective.
Things are looking good..... |

I know the rules on filesharing on PGSW and am in no way condoning illegal software but this (now removed) installer is out there on rapids*are etc. I can't see that I'm breaking any rules by saying that because a lot of people (including the mods!) are running it succesfully and no manufacturer is being ripped off.
Be a little creative and google the installers filename. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

My reply from TomTom re the speed limits:
Quote: | At this time, it is not possible to change the speed limit on the road using map share on your device. You have to report this to TomTom as "other map error" and this will not take immediate effect on your device. |
And re the compass:
Quote: | We would like to thank you for your feedback regarding the latest application. Obviously, your comments, feedback and suggestions will be passed to our 2nd Line team, Product Management and Marketing Team.
However, with every release of a new application there different features launched. Please let us know if you would like to revert to previous application v7. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. |

The install that a lot of people are running (inc Mods) is the legitimate one as provided by TomTom before the download was pulled. It was not obtained illegitimately.
Anyone desperate enough to install it (now that it has been removed) could of course go trawling the web but I'd suggest it would be more prudent to wait for TomTom to re-release it.
Although it's technically a breach of Tomtom's licence we understand that some will seek it out elsewhere but we do ask that links are not posted here. _________________ Darren Griffin

Just a little update, now it seems that v8.010 is behaving it's self. For the last couple of days of updating Map share with Home, my warnings for PGPSW cameras have been fine

So it was withdrawn from x20 users because they dropped a clanger in releasing it to us too early and not because it was full of bugs.
