I had a problem with Automatic Speech Recognition not working in 7.221. On Monday TomTom support had me upgrade to 7.481 and all seemed to be working fine. Today Home reported 8.010 was ready to download so I allowed it. Now there is no option to use ASR although in the Quick Menu settings you can choose it but it doesn't do anything. Has it been removed, moved elsewhere or is my installation screwed up?
ASR still works just the same on my 720 with v8.010. _________________ Anita

I had the same problem earlier (as did Anita and a few others, no doubt), but I've just tried again and it's happily downloading 47MB - patience is a virtue _________________ Andy

Has anyone tried this with the RDS-MC receiver as yet? and if so are the delays displayed in colour again with a correct delay duration quoted while in the UK - this has to be the main reason for the upgrade at the moment if you own the TMC device - Mike

Strange my menu has changed. When I select Navigate to - Address all I get are 4 options. City Centre, Street and house number, Postcode and Crossing or intersection. Previously I had 2 further options which both used ASR[/quote]

Even more curious is that the HOME menus and menu names have changed too, but by only updating the device (allegedly) _________________ Andy

Just done a fairly fast upgrade to 8.010 on my 520. All seems to be OK and I still have the same menu items as before for Navigation. There's a new one under Changed Preferences, page 3 of 8. I've now got 'Show Lane Images', but when I tap it, I get a message to say 'The map or map version you are using is not compatible with Lane guidance. For more information, visit www.tomtom.com
I'll check over the next few fays how the device performs and post further if I get any problems.
MapShare & GPSFix worked before and after the upgrade.

Correct. You can use older maps, 600 and 700 series, with Navcore 8, but you'll need 800 series maps for lane images, and I think real view, too.

Your menu COULD change considerably, if you have a x20 device etc, as the Navcore 8 menu is quite different. But you don't bother saying what sort of device you have, so it's hard for is to help.
As with my Go 730, mine's hugely different to you. On pressing "Navigate To", I get TWO pages - the first has "Home", "Favourite", "Address", "Recent Destination", and "Point of Interest"
Page two gives me "My Location", "Point on Map", "Latitude Longitude", "TomTom Buddy", and "Position of Last Stop".
SOME of which may be greyed out, depending on the circumstances at the time, such as "My Location", if you are indoors with no gps fix. But you'd need to tell us more, before we can tell if there is an issue.
AH - UNLESS, your instructions were wrong, and you had pressed Navigate To, AND then pressed the Address Button. In which case it is as you say, plus the two voice based options (Spoken Address, and Spoken Address - Dialogue).
In which case, if yours are greyed, following a rest, then it is indeed sounding like ASR has fouled up for you.
I have a Tomtom One (Classic) and was wondering if anyone knows if Tomtom had any plans to release this Navcore 8 update for it.
Or am I screwed?
I connected my unit to Home but wasn't offered any update.

What's different in your Home Menus now like mate... as mine's the same.
Menu names have changed (maybe only slightly in some cases), menu positions within HOME have changed.
I wasn't playing too much attention, so I can't give exact details - suffice to say I know there ARE changes _________________ Andy

Cheers - I was aware of that and will wait for the v8 maps to be released. I would guess towards the end f July before hey are made available for purchase. No way I am I going to use 'iffy' ones, which I believe can be found 'out there!' _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. I have just done the update to 8.010 and have found the ASR options gone aswell, I have tried coping the ASR file from a back up of 7.481 and a 30 sec pin reset. None of this has work.

I should have added that I have a Go 720 with Western Europe map 720 and now on 8.010.
Your are correct shadamehr that I meant to say Navigate to, Address and then I only get 4 options which do not include the spoken dialogue options. I have tried a reset as well and also tried to reinstall 8.010 but the menu remains the same. The ASR options are just not showing anywhere.
