Navigon have had a hard time in the US market. Management changes, product release delays, inferior routing - you name it, they had it. Since a few months their situation seems to improve (they claim being number four in the market now), and they are actually releasing some devices. Here we have a look at the new "low end flagship" PND, the "2100max". We have taken it through our gruelling tests, let's see how it performed.

As you state, this is a review of the US version - UK & EU users note that we get the quicker version 7 of the Navigon software and FreshMaps for 2 Years (8 updates) for 20 Euros
It also has Lane Assistant Pro
Looks a nice unit for the money. And cheaper than buying regular map updates alone
If it doesn't crash!!! |

It didn't crash during my tests, with the screenshot software running and keeping the processor nicely warm - I would think that says a lot. _________________ Lutz

I wonder if the USA will get the v7 software release later?. I see the 2110 max as simply a larger screen version of the existing 2110. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

according to their comparison table Lane Assistant is also not available on the 2100, while it is included on the 2100max. _________________ Lutz

Here's a reply from Navigon regarding the MN7 question:
Quote: | MN7 will be available in the US on new products in fall of this year and an upgrade for legacy products will follow at a later date. |

Apprently ViaMichelin will make it to the 8110 - in France initially - as a chargeable extra add-on (I like the way Navigon are offering extra niche features for small fees) - and to the rest of Europe, probably if successful |

I will be one of the first to buy if ViaMichelin is offered on the Navigon! I have finally purchased a Nuvi 765t and will be testing it in Europe in January with POIs from other sources, but I would really want to get back the really useful Michelin guides that were on their original product. |
