is anyone running this combination that is near london / birmingham / edinburgh (or any other city with lots of 3d buildings data)?
i'm in the middle of reviewing igo8 for PGPSW but as i liv in bradford it's practically impossible to get to any of these areas. running a demo route through london i get 'out of memory errors' after about 2 or 3 miles presumeably due to all the 3d building data - i wanted to know how this actual device copes on an actual live route rather than a demo! round here we just have lots of hills and there are no memory issues in normal use, it only appears to kill it when in areas of 3d buildings.
admitedly the phone really isn't up to the minimum spec BUT they do list the phone as compatible...!!
also, when approaching the charge zone is there any audible or visual warning of this? in demo mode there isn't but then also in demo mode there are no speed camera alerts! i know there is the warning in the route summary BUT do you get additional warnings when actually driving? again there are no charge zones or toll roads near me...
any comments appreciated!

For a start remove Pointui as this hogs a considerable amount of memory, Route 66 strugles to open with Pointui on the MDA C-III and Co-Pilot 7 refuses to even start on my unit - Mike |

I know you have now posted your review but my question is - If they can supply the software to you on a micro SD why can't they make it easy for the rest of us out here with similar kit that only uses micro SD cards.
Trying to get Navngo to reply to e-mails is like trying to get a tax refund - it can be done but how many years can you wait! |

I bought !go 2006 which comes only on a mini sd card with full size adaptor.
Sorry, didn't know the Igo 8 they sell comes on the micro card with mini and full size adaptors!
Seems that Navngo put yet a further hurdle up to thwart those of us with older gear, who want to use it on a PDA using only micro cards.
I use an Orbit (old model) and the new software won't work on my old PDA, a Medion PDNA100 running WM 2003. I haven't been able to find anyone who knows where I can find the Medion WM2003SE download - so at the moment I am scuppered |

Well, I decided to get rid of theOrbit and buy an HTC Trinity (under the Orange label).
Went to up-grade the device to access the GPS and "bricked it" within days!!!
Just heard from the company I sent it to for "repair" that I should get it back on Tuesday.
Went for the Trinity because it uses Mini sd cards and my up-graded Igo 8 is on a mini card but the key was that you access the slot externally and don't have to open the Trinity up to change cards. It also has 3G etc and a 400mhz processor (sounds a bit like the Orbit 2)
Trying to remember now how long ago it was I bought the Igo 8!!! |
