HI,
I decided to update my map on my TT720. I paid for the Western Europe map V7.20. Unfortunately my broadband connection dropped out half way through the download. Now I cannot get the map without paying again. Can anybody help please.
Many thanks

Repeat of my answers on another forum:
Once you've paid for a map, you should be able to download it as many times as you like for a year.
Also, it is a pretty common thing for people to have to have several goes at downloading before they get it successfully.
Have you just tried downloading again? If you have, what messages are you getting when you do?
You MAY need to delete anything in the "map" sub-folder where Home stores its downloads, in order to prompt a new download. Check the path in Home's Tools menu / Home preferences/Folder preferences tab.
It's also usually best to download at night.
Also:
The problem is very possibly that you are still going to the "Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc" section of Home?
Once you've bought the map, you need to look in "Update my device" instead.
If I log in on my work PC, every time I get MapShare updates it also offers to download the map I have again, because it cannot find it on that particular PC. |

I can't believe the appalling performance on TomTom's download site. Or is it TomTom Home that is the culprit.
I bought the new western europe map this morning and it has bee trying to download ever since. Most of the time the remaining time goes up not down!
Is there any way to download outside of Home? |

I download a 4GB DVD from mirror.ac.uk just before this at over 1.2 MBPS so I don't think it's my local circuit. |

It's always been dreadfully slow, but there is no other way.
Try at night. |

Yesterday I contacted TT support. I spoke on 3 occasions to different adviser's who had me remove my map from the device, Delete all the files in the TT Home download folder then they passed me on to 2nd line who reset my account. All this to no avail. I tried as Steve suggested above - putting my old map back into TT Home Download/map folder. Still nothing. In desperation I installed my old map V710 back onto my device and low and behold the new map was now showing in TT Home update. So I followed TT's instruction to delete my old map from the device to make space for the new map.Result no new map available in TT Home update! So again I install the old map V710 and again the new map shows in TT Home update. So I attempted to install the new map without removing the old and it worked. It went straight onto my 720 Tom Tom with no problem. So it would appear that you do not require to delete the old map anymore. My device is now showing Map Western-Europe v720.1803
Sorry to be long winded but I thought my experiences might be helpful to others. Thanks for your help Guys. _________________ Brad |
