Yeah, well. TomTom figure they're getting the clientele who would otherwise not buy a GPS at all with the cheap model, and the ones who like the card option are expected to shell out a few bucks/quid more for the better models. Might even sell two units to some people! First the basic One, and if that's not enough as you start to dick around with them, you give it to your wife/mum/girlfriend and buy a more expensive one.
I can certainly see their business plan there, even though I don't agree with it.[/quote]
What I was thinking, well they won't get this one - not yet.
Pity though because from what I've seen here it looks the bizness, I'm still chugging along with a TT710. Does all I want mind, but not pocket friendly!!

Can anyone confirm anywhere in the UK selling the new model XL yet? I've just had permission to buy a new GPS on expenses and don't really want to end up with the old model just days before the new one ships.
Any tips on finding the new models over the old ones, seeing as the names are pretty much the same. I'm currently searching for "Tomtom XL -one". |

They're on the horizon because I've just been leafletted by Comet.
They now want £119 plus a free home charger for a TT1v3 _________________ Satnav:

Would you say it's worth waiting for an XL as opposed to a ONE XL? As far as I can tell the major differences are the speaker and mount, and the fact that they're shipping with v7 software.
I can also pick up a 520 for about the same money as an XL - what are the differences between the two? I need Bluetooth connectivity (already have a subscription to Tomtom Plus I need to transfer over), hence not really looking at the ONE. But then there are new 530s coming, although that sticks the price right back up again.
Thanks
(Mods - feel free to split this out if necessary?) |

I wonder how quick the alternative mounts will be?
If I get one of these I want to site it on a Brodit mount in front of the dash. _________________ Satnav:
