Can a Nuvi learn a preferred route?

I found a thread on the topic at

but it is a couple years old and concerned an I3. So in hopes that there is new info, or that a Nuvi is smarter than an I3, let me ask the question again.

My Nuvi 200W appears able to learn a preferred route. Example - I want to go to a destination that is about 10 miles west and 5 miles south of my starting point. In a city like Phoenix that is laid out on a grid, there are a thousand ways to get there, of course. So the Nuvi chooses a route and I like the second half, but I don't like the first half. (Both the Nuvi's first half and my first half involve an expressway, but I prefer my choice of expressway.) So I take my first-half route, and midway through the trip, I rejoin the Nuvi's preferred route, which I follow to the destination.

Next day, I set a destination that is near (but not same as) the previous day's destination. I may have to do this a few times, but eventually the Nuvi starts suggesting my expressway, rather than its original choice, whenever I am going somewhere that involves this choice.

Is this something new from Garmin? Or is it simply the same old tweaking of the Nuvi's internal data base regarding speed on one segment vs speed on an alternate segment?
