I've bought the latest map.715 from TomTom for my 700. I have the latest version of Home. When trying to download the map (just under 2gb) it freezes about 3/4 of the way through saying "tomtom server timed out". TomTom support were about as useful as a chocolate teaspoon, suggesting that i should force an install of a partial map and see if it works. I don't think so. They refuse to send the map on a DVD. Has anyone got any suggestions before i start demanding refunds. My tinterweb connection speed is about 1.8 thingys .... |

I had the same experience with the 710 maps. After many failed attempts I eventually tried starting the download at 1am, when I hoped the server would be less busy, and when I got up I found that this attempt had been successful.
It may have been coincidence, but worth a try?
If you're a lark rather than an owl perhaps you could try starting the download as soon as you get up in the morning.
Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be. _________________ Anita

Agree that it seems to be a question of TT's server capacity or bandwidth. I have had problems at times of what I assume to be peak demand in Western Europe. Yesterday I downloaded the 242 MB Italy map at about 1pm Australian time (0300 GMT). It was quick and worked first time. |

What I don't understnad is why they would not supply the map on DVD. 2G downloads and the net don't often make good partners. Garmin supplies theirs on DVD, seems TomTom could do the same and have much happier customers. |

Who told you that TomTom want happy customers eh?
I told them that if they sort out my TMC problem I will be happy. Quote "We cannot do anything, try the retailer that you bought it from"
Happy customers my a***.
