Because sadly there are thieves amongst us who want to get everything for nothing then share it far and wide.
If we had continued to allow such abuse there would not be a database here today. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This has been covered so many times before.
Some people were abusing the monthly £2 subs and uploading the database to sharing sites. Now when we catch them doing so they have a lot more to loose than a couple of quid.
Your statement above is contradictory.

but you want to
Which do you want?

When someone comes up with a way to cover the costs of managing the database, converting it into all the formats covered and covering the distribution costs (bandwidth) then it could be free.
Personally I'm detecting a wind up. |

Somebody also forgot to mention that the £16.60 is a limited period special offer (ending 29 April 2008), normal price is £19.95, thus making PGPSW cheaper!!
Quote: | Special Offer: 2 Months for FREE! Original price £ 19.95. Now £ 16.60 for one year of Safety Camera Updates. |
Source: TomTom
Thus, superior product in this case is better value for money.
Pay up and download or go and tell TT that their database is overpriced _________________ Andy

Apart from the increase mentioned above, do you know if TomTom are increasing their prices this year or next? |

far too many (ab)users of the £2 offering liked to breach copyright so that one went out the window i'm afraid.
as a side issue, tomtom (or garmin or navman etc etc etc) never offered a monthly option - did you have any luck asking them to offer a monthly version?
also, have you had any luck asking them to 'quality match' our database

TomTom's price is going UP at the end of this month. So does that mean you'll be asking them to drop their prices by 95p to match PGPSW? |

And so back to the beginning.... PGPSW offers more so it costs (ever so, ever so) slightly more. You're not even comparing two simalar databases. Have you asked TomTom if they'll start offering Free LifeTime Subs to their members? |
