TomTom 520T - speed camera database and text-to-speech capability and the Pocket GPSWorld voice alert collection.
Can ONLY the text-to-speech selection be used OR can, for example, Vicki Archer be used???
IF Vicki Archer can be used is it necessary to select "Sound effects" in the confguration screen??
Thanks for any responses! |

Hold on a bit, lets get clearer.
You have a GO520T.
Which cameras are you using - TomTom's or PGPSW's. Vicki Archer works with PGPSW cameras, not TomTom's (well, I suppose with some effort she might be made to work for TT's).
Text to Speech is for a computer voice only and is to read a text phrase which you type yourself.
Vicki Archer is a pre-recorded human voice in .ogg format, specially for the PGPSW cameras.
So tell us what you've got and what you want to do. _________________ Dennis

I have a TT520T. I am using PocketGPSWorld camera database. The "beeps" are driving me mad!!! I use the same database on my Mio together with Vicki's voice warnings and wish to use the same on my 520T.
The voice collection includes "text to speech" voices. Since the 520T has this capability my question is - am I limited to using only the "text to speech" voices from the collection or can I simply load in Vicki and have her inform me of approaching camera positions without further ado???
I think, on reflection, that you have already answered this and the reply is that I can!!!
Thanks, Dennis, for your quick reply! |

You can use 'any' of the voice collections, real or Text to Speech. Just choose the collection type that matches your database i.e. Vicky-Consolidated and install as directed on the Voice Download page. _________________ Darren Griffin |

You'll be able to see (using Windows Explorer) when you've finished, three files for each camera type
Cameraname.bmp is the icon which shows up on TT.
Cameraname.ogg is the VickiArcher sound.
Cameraname.ov2 is the cameratype from PGPSW
I now have the speed zoned camera sets and in my map folder they look like this
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
Three for each camera type and speed. _________________ Dennis
