Can a 2000 cu-5600 Mitsubishi Jap spec system be made to work in the UK? I've been told that the Jap satelites are not the same as ours or the system is set up differently??
If it can work where do I get UK maps? I've already got TomTom2 on my Ipaq - can these be made to work??
TIA

The satellites are the same all over the world (literally). But you will not have any luck with the map format. That one's proprietary. Which also means that the TomTom maps will not work. Never. Just doesn't make business sense. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for that.
I've emailed Mitsubishi - will they / can they / do you think they'll supply UK maps???
Or is it a lost cause? |

I know that people are unable to learn from other people's experience. so go ahead and confirm it by yourself. _________________ Lutz

Hi guys. Lutz - you seem a little harsh here. He was asking two different questions entirely. I would be really interested to know whether Mitsubishi will supply maps for this system, and also whether it is possible to get the system working in english, rather than Japanese!
Thanks |

He never asked to make the system work in english, did he?
I'm not harsh, just pessimistic. (A pessimist is a well informed optimist) _________________ Lutz

Invariably the systems factory fitted in Japan are not similar to those fitted in other markets and so the European discs are incompatible, similarly few have the option to use any other language than Japanese _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for coming back to me guys, even if via well informed optimism, Lutz! Pity to hear that so few jap systems work in english. I actually have my system out of my vehicle too (salvaged from another but it defo. works) so I can't try it until...wait for it....I get the wiring diagram. I've found the earth (easy bit!), but still have a red, orange, yellow, purple and green cable to find homes for. Logic would say red is positive, but I don't want to make the set up go bang too quickly!! Any ideas? Has anyone else got one of these units and can help? Its a big under-seat unit with a nice little separate screen. The screen has an av input, at least so even if the GPS mapping won't work I can at least use it for basic gps functions and plugging an AV source. Helpp!! |

If u want the blue prints for some of the nav systems, check out:
http://www.atsystems.co.jp/~members/f003/morita/mou003.html
Some written in english and some in japanese.
U need the model number of ur system.
If you find a way of getting yours working PLEASE, PLEASE let me know, I have a different model than yours but am in the same boat.

Sorry these post were a while back but i also have the nav system. I find it very hard to believe that it won't work in the uk as it is called a 'hybrid' system(that isn't very hybrid). Also when mine first loads everything is in english until it asks for a cd to be inserted. Also of the information on the unit itself is in english. |
