|
|
I created a POI bitmap (22x22) for my TomTom ONE v2, and all seemed fine. The POI image shows up nicely when browsing the POI list.
However, when I drive within range of the POI, as expected it beeps and shows up larger in the top left corner of the TomTom screen, but some of the red in the logo gets turned white or transparent.
I've tried saving under numerous bitmap format versions with MS Paint, Photoshop, etc, but nothing seems to make any difference.
url now edited out
Any ideas?

Yep, that's what happens. If you use an off-red colour (eg 255 red, 51 green, 51 blue) it still looks red to the eye. This is the colour used in the speed limit icons from this site. _________________ Gerry

Thanks Gerry!
As the bitmap had blended edges, I found the easiest way was to alter the brightness of the whole image using Photoshop.
It took several attempts and a few hours.
R=255, but I found B and G had to be at least 26 before red became visible. |

For anyone using a Garmin, Magenta (255,0,255 -RGB) is the transparent colour.... |

But if you are still using an old version of POILoader (as I was) this may not work. If your POI magenta backgrounds are still showing up as such, download the latest version of POILoader and try again. |

Indeed. Or another reason the Magenta background shows up is because the software you use doesn't export bmps in the right format - see this thread |
