After reading the posts from"vicky" about the 930 and the 920 with navcore 8,i decided to put it in my 520.
I donīt remember having a 0m on the gps status display on any other FW(iīm wrong?!)
Interesting that this FW works like a charm on my 520.
Much faster at power on(1 sec press)
The added mapshare corrections functions are very useful. |

I believe that figure is your heading. After the tomtom has moved the number changes to show in which direction it moved (does it have a degree sign after it on your version? it does on version 7.xxx).
Where did you get version 8 from? |

Unless fao91 has a 930 and has copied it across it would not be a pukka copy of v8 and should not be discussed on the forums.

Agreed. That was what I was trying to establish. |

Looks like its a Portugese version from the screen shots..
No doubt everyone else knows that already. (Well it is Sunday ) |

No doubt everyone else knows that already. (Well it is Sunday ) | The GPS Location shown would seem to put it off the Portuguese coast. Do we know if the 930 has been launched in Portugal yet. Having said that, are we bothered? If so should Vicky's thread not be locked too? (I don't think so, but the 930 hasn't been launched here yet!) _________________ Jock

No,itīs not a heading indication.
Anyway it doesnīt do anything, always at 0 m,even when driving.
Now,where did i get it...i got it from Tomtom service center
A friend of mine is working there and he got me the navcore with a file that even made it to look right(not the 920 menu colors from vicky).
And no he doesnīt give maps or activation procedures.Just the navcore like they gave some people to test it. |

I'm sure when your "friend" gave you it, he didn't expect you to go posting about it on public forums! _________________ Jock

Yeah, but the person you got it from certainly was!
If nothing else, you could get him fired if there was any way of identifying him from your posts.
Also, I can't believe you jumped to conclusions (on the strength of a single "m"?), and posted to say it has an altimeter display; when you are running un-known beta software on a device it was never designed for, and you've found for yourself it doesn't actually DO anything! |

jesus!!
The NDA expired the moment the x30 range come out to the market/features were anounced.
I was informed that it really is an altimeter. It will work someday! |

I somehow doubt TomTom would agree with that....
But hey, I'm sure your "contact" knows best....
Shame to lose the compass though... |

It is working better than you know - you are exactly 0m above the road.
To be honest - GPS altimeters are an interesting curiosity - they aren't accurate enough for anything else. _________________ Phil |

Odd then that we are still under NDA. It has not expired. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This is a little like the Official Secrets Act cvering people who worked at Bletchley Park.
They were told NEVER to divulge what went on there and, as they say, never is a very long time.
Being so clearly in the public eye, it would be foolish of PGPSW to contravene any agreement and jeopardise any future trials or evaluations which they may have otherwise been privvy to.
Like the result of the last competition, patience is a virtue and Darren et al will tell us what they can when they can
