OK I now have the TTS Voices working with a bit of fudging
The thing I am missiing now is 7 Digit Post Codes for the UK
Can someone remind me where the Post Code File is stored on a *20 western europe map so I can copy it across to the 930

I don't like the all black look as it makes it look cheap and nasty.
Much prefer the look of my 720. |

I like the look of the full screen width traffic map, as well as the pop-up balloon with the info in.
Shame it has the same issue as Navcore7 with the delay info - hopefully a fix will be found soon now that Navcore8 is public with the same issue!
Vicky, what is the part number on the white label attached to the wire - is it the 4v00.013 model as shipped with the x20T's?

I prefer the 930's look, to be honest.

And in this instance I prefer the 'old' way. The information was better presented, IMO, except for the balloon, which I like. _________________ Tim |

Not only is the colour wrong for traffic there is no delay time. But GPRS seems fine. For me on Navcore 7.x with GPRS traffic all seems to work fine and I have witnessed first hand it has saved me time.
Interesting v8 works on a 920.... hardware as we suspect is exactly the same with only black plastic being the difference.
One thing I note though, with v8 on a 920 vs v8 on a 930 there is a memory available difference. Has this lead to the sluggish UI performance/response? |

Yes the TMC Unit is the same as the *20s 4V00.013
I doubt I will use it, I will plod on with GPRS until HD Traffic comes out. (Soon I hope)

Personally I think th UI is slower, as I mentioned before I am finding myself getting ahead on keypresses and its like wading thru treacle. so at the mo I think its slower, may well change when the revisions start (Lets face it only on 8.002 at the mo!)

Cheers Mike had a mental block there!!! I cannot see why they have not included the ZIP file with this device its nowhere to be found, so had to use the one from the 920! |

I thought the RAM free varied unpredictably? I've just cycled my 920 through that page a few times and got a different result each time, varying between 24.5 and 24.7MB. Both a long way short of Vicky's - but I may have more other stuff loaded at this stage (POIs)?
EDIT - No zip file? Again, not a UK or Netherlands version? _________________ Dennis

Vicky, I hate to tell you this, but you have a faulty screen - all those dead pixels, I'm surprised you didn't notice yourself
Great posts - Darren will be getting jealous that somebody beat him to review this new toy _________________ Andy

But I bet its still outside Pixmanias Return Policy
Seem to be getting it set up the way I want, looking forward to getting some hours on the road to test it now
Just a pity I am stuck in the office from 8am to 10pm tomorrow and Sunday Will just have to wait to play till Monday
Have already noticed routing seems better than on the 720, on planned routes to London tonight it seems to be keeping clear of the M1 and routing down the A1 (Sensible for a Friday Evening!) |

Dennis, you've raised a very valid point - only TWO colour schemes are required (one for road clear and one for delay)
I would also have to agree that it is surely better that the system resources are better utilised displaying maps or calculating routes rather than worrying about just what colour a delay is displayed.
My only addition to this might have been that different colours might be useful for delaying different delay periods. For example:
yellow - 5 minutes or less
amber - 5-15 minutes
red - 15 minutes or more (avoid)
As DennisN pointed out, the CAUSE of the delay is irrelevant, it's the LENGTH of the delay which is of interest. _________________ Andy

No problem at all, its identicall in all dimensions and connections, the only differences seem to be firmware and software |
