Hi All, just a quick post to say hello to everyone here and to thank you for the assistance given already through these forums and for any future assistance anyone may be able to give in the future when I screw things up!
New to in car GPS, but I've had a Garmin eTrex for a few years for walking and found that very handy.
Cheers everyone, drive safe and wear your seatbelts! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

And before you screw things up - do a backup of your device, using Windows Explorer. Do another backup before every time you update it with anything from TomTom.
And if you're going to have speed cameras, get the ones from here, not the TomTom ones.
I don't know how much of the above anyo0ne else has already told you elsewhere, so apologies if it's old hat. Better for you to hear it twice than not at all!
To (mis)quote you - Drive safe, wear your seatbelt and stay under the speed limit. _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Many thanks for the advice, all done, however, thanks to browsing here.
I use a free backup product called SyncBack from 2BrightSparks and backup the internal memory and my SD Cardto the pc each time I update the TomTom firmware (7.122 - 7.480 - 7.481. That's a Windows backup, not a Home 2.2 backup as well. It was very useful when TomTom Support asked me to downgrade while they try to resolve my Google Maps 'Send to GPS' problem.
Can I put a link in to SyncBack? although I work in IT, I don't work for them! _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Most of us just use Windows Explorer to perform this function though - Mike |

Cheers Mike,
Here it is : http://www.2brightsparks.com/downloads.html#freeware
I use it to do background backups of my laptop to a desktop which has 500Gb of space. It can also backup removable media at the same time.
May be of interest. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |
