New Firmware version 7.481 is available for download via Home.
Anyone know what differences there are? |

Nice one.
Now why didn't I think of this myself.
Still, at least I replied before NOON.

I couldn't find it when I connected to home, but as my daughter April said to me...
"Daddy your a Fool, it's not working cos you have your sat nav upside down in the desk holder thingy..."
Am about to put it the right way round and try again.
Oops |

OK - SERIOUS post folks (that is I am CONFIRMING it is NOT an April Fool).
But unless TOMTOM are themselves having a laugh at our expense, I've judged this all wrong as it IS - no honest, it IS offering me 7.481, AND just to try and make you see I'm not having a joke now, it's 37MB whereas 7.480 was 35MB.
Oh er.
And to think I am rushing out now so can't really test it... |

Initial indications are good, most if not all the issues reported in the "mega 7,480" thread seem addressed, with one very notable exception RDS-TMC is still the same, i.e. it doesn't offer delay information. The 910 running version 6 software works fine so this problem is clearly Navcore 7 related IMHO - Mike |

FIRST WARNING:
This will only apply to a certain group, but just to warn you, that ZERO seems to have been done in terms of fixing the problem with Traffic (that is at least in my case, Wireless Traffic).
As the same issues I reported to TT on the prior version, and that they told me to hold off therefore, until the next release (v7.481 out today), STILL apply.
WELL DONE TOMTOM - so it was an April Fool after all.
Seriously though:
To summarise again:
1) Traffic Congestion Incidents do not show a symbol for the type of problem on screen, at normal zoom level when every other incident type does.
2) Lane restriction incidents, such as Contraflow etc, which SHOULD show as Blue, and do under v7.221, now incorrectly show with NO colour on the map - they are just a useless clear bar.
3) Similarly, Roadwork based issues, that are meant to show as yellow/amber lanes, now also seem to be non-coloured.
So I am angry about this.
It's VERY early days for me to have done any serious other testing however, so I can't really comment on much else for now.
Other than to say, I never needed to choose which voice to set this time, as the previous release did, but my car cursor had changed.
All my .ogg files etc were kept intact though.
I will test it more tomorrow daytime though.
But as I say, ZERO fixed in terms of the Traffic Issues already reported to them in 7.480.
Idiots! |

Oh and that Home won't let me install MapShare corrections - failing with an Error Code.
It was doing this just after I upgraded, and left for first work of the day, but I just put it down to not having done a reboot.
But it's doing it still now.
I'll try another reboot and see...
Mmm - not looking good...
One more try...
Ahhhhh - after this latest reboot of the TT, now I AM getting asked to choose my Voice Selection on startup. Doh. Hope this doesn't become a RECURRENT issue, like it did on 7.480..
Anyway, as to Mapshares this time, let's see...
And NOPE!
"TomTOm cannot install the Mapshare corrections to your device {583,1003}
On TomTom...
TomTom, TomTom, TomTom....
Darn you for the fools that you are.
Can anyone else that HAS updated tell me if this is for ALL of us, or not? |

Well I just ran Home and got offered the new Application 7.481, MapShare updates and GPS QuickFix, all of them installed fine and device SEEMS to be working fine - though not going on the road till tomorrow.
I have WE + UK Map 715.1703 and it is showing 36444 MapShare updates in use.
To be more specific - it has now kept the voice I chose (Simon UK Computer Voice), the sounds associated with POIs, and my home location. But it still takes a LOOOONNNNG press of the button to turn it on.
Cheers,

Just done the update 7.481 and I have to say I see no difference from 7.480 except the VR now appears to work OK on my North America map on my SD Card. Everything else seems the same.
Long time to turn on.
Not all the time but navigate to POI just sits there "one moment please".
And so on all the same annoying small faults as before.
I think this update is for the Americans only.
Good job I'm going on holiday there next week. _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.
