|
|
I recently bought a second hand TOMTOM 1 with USA and GB map cards and am currently trying to add my own POI's which i am not having a problem with. However when trying to clear the existing POI catagorys such as border crossing, etc i cant find these anywhere in the directory to delete. Any Ideas ?
Thanks in advance |

Hi melbster,
to the forum!
Custom POI categories, are ones which the user/owner manually installs themself, and generally comprise of an .OV2 file (the POI itself), a .BMP file (the icon for the map), and sometimes an .OGG file (the audio warning for the POI). Custom POI categories are found on the map folder.
Standard POI categories are ones that are built-in and come with the map. These are found in the POI.DAT file. Border crossing, may well be a standard POI that comes with your map. However somebody might have created and installed a custom POI category of that name on your device.
One piece of very useful advice is to always fully backup your SD card before doing any changes!

In other words, you can't delete the BUILT-IN pois individually.
All you can do is the rather drastic step of deleting (or renaming) the poi.dat file, which will remove ALL the built-in categories.
If you are finding it annoying to have two similar categories (your own and the built-in) you may like to try MERGING your own POIs with the built-in ones. I've done some instructions HERE |

Does the Tomtom One use mapshare? I use a 720 which does.
If so you can use mapshare to delete, move etc. the built in Tomtom POI's. |

Apologies, my post above originally said "you cannot delete the built-in POI categories individually" (which is what the OP is asking about), but I edited it for spelling and somehow deleted the relevant word.. |
