|
|
This maybe a stupid question, and i have tried search, but results proved inconclusive. I have a One XL and i was wondering is it possible to navigate without the voices, but still having audible camera and speed warnings. I know i could delete the voices from the memory but i will still need them. I make a common long journey and like to have it in navigate mode for ETA, time to waypoints etc, but i dont need to be told where im going audibly, can get very annoying on a 6hr journey. |

Or select a 'greyed out' Voice in Change Preferences. _________________ Richard

2 more voices, first one is 'silent', the other one with a discrete 'tick' before turn instead of complete silence |

Site/zip is NOT loading. Was it a limited file? |

Sorry to drag up and old post, although i did start it.
I have used the silent voice, works well, though i have a couple of problems. Sometimes i want to navigate with the voices so have to go back to preferences and put a voice on or off. Because the voice is just silent and not given a language i have to search voices not within English, and then scroll through all the voices to find the silent voice. Time consuming and frustrating.
What i was wondering is if there is anyway of editing the silent voice so that it is associated with the English lanuguage, so that if i want to change from silent to voice or vice-versa i dont have to scroll through loads of voices. |

Edit the associated .vif file using NotePad on the PC, it will probably appear as:
silent
data99.chk
Make it read:
English (UK) - Silent
data99.chk
If your number is different to the one I used make sure you edit the text to match the coresponding dataXX.chk file (where XX is a number) - Mike |

What is in the dataXX.vif file when you view it using NotePad and what number does the XX actually have on your file - Mike |

When you go to change the voice does the device ask you to only make available voices from the same country? - The x20 units certainly do this but my one XL refuses to ask the question, although this could be due to me disabling the question, if it ever did this in the first place? - Mike |
