I vaguely remember someone saying a while ago that they got a MioMap3.3. download for their 710 by means of the official Mio upgrade site. Did the update it work? and if so do you have a copy to share? (I'm pretty certain that there would be no licencing problem after all, it was an official free Mio update to 3.2 even if it was only on their site for a short while that I missed ) |

It is working fine on mine. But others have had problems and have backed it out. I did have a problem with it crashing when looking at, roughly, Northern Germany so I rolled that map back. The brain dead updater restarted that particular download so many times it could well be a duff file. Not sure what you would need though. At a guess the entire contents of the updater cache. That is a lot of data and I don't have a CD burner at the mo. _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

Hmmm. There's a reason why some units aren't detecting the update (or didn't detect it when it was available).
Out of interest which "Rom Version" does your unit have? Mine is R33F.2.112.517 and didn't detect the update.
Also what server address is being used in your miomapupdater.ini file? Mine is: url=http://www.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap/ and is useless.

Ah! The update server address has indeed changed to:
http://www.mio-tech.be/updates/config/pna.ini
Either insert the above in to the ini file (may work) or download the new version of Miomapupdater which is confusingly still called 1.4.
I tried this and still couldn't find an update until I deleted the existing hard drive update cache (I then re-installed the "new" version of the updater and it detected updates. I don't know if its version 3.3 because I haven't updated yet).
Anyway, it seems like it may be a solution - download the new version of 1.4 updater or possibly just change the server line in the ini file. |

The update process is fubar - not just the usual errors (stalled downloads and so on) but it seems that the modified updater messes with XP to the extent that a reboot is needed in order to re-establish network connections (for any prog).
What a mess. |

Thanks for the rplies. I'm not able to give them the attention they deserve at the moment, but will get back to you.
Thanks |

It works - if you can get past the update process. I had to reboot about 6 times and re-start the updater prog many more.
There's no obvious difference between 3.3 and 3.2 on non widescreen devices except for text to speech (and I hope bug fixes).
The TMC search screen seems a bit dodgy as well (it doesn't seem to be searching the frequency range correctly) but I haven't had a chance to test it yet. |

The only annoying problem I've found so far with 3.3 on the C710 is that the vehicle's position on the map lags behind the actual road position. It's easy to notice on turns - there's a pause before the correct position is placed on the map. It's not a smooth animation as it is with 3.2. Could be a hardware problem I suppose.
The TMC direction reporting bug seems to be fixed
I can't see many other differences (other than a few cosmetic tweaks). Haven't been able to test whether or not there's a low/no GPS signal tunnel mode as there is with iGo My Way.
I've messed about with iGo My Way skins - they seem to work well. With the iGo skins and the new voices it almost feels like a completely new product.
Having said that - during a 15 minute journey this evening I managed to get a "fatal error"! |

Same ROM version as you.
http://mooshikam.mio-tech.be - Which did a redirect IIRC. _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

It's well worth checking out if you can get through the update process.
I would be interested to know if you find that the actual road position lags behind the map position a bit. Not sure if the tts voices are to blame - don't think they are. Looking at the dat file I can see that the 3.3 software is quite different to 3.2.
Also, I've found that using Miomap 3.3 skins (and modded iGo skins) means that bluetooth isn't available - the icon is there in the map views but selecting it does nothing It always worked in 3.2 no matter what skins I used. |

I get the impression that most of the skins are developed for the 310, which I don't believe has BT.
Having said that, I have 'hidden' the BT button on mine because I don't use it. |

That may well answer it. Thank you (if it does!)
I wonder if there is a simple fix. The dat files don't offer any obvious answers. |

Trevor,
You can see what's available by browsing here:

3.2 works for me.
