Hi,
I used to have an I3. I "upgraded" to a TT One XL because I wanted a bigger screen & TMC via the mobile. Now coming back to Garmin because 1) TMC is useless and 2) the TT interface and routing, well don't get me started on them Gun Shoot Out Gun Shoot Out
I fancy getting a 250W but can't find a full manual online so could someone confirm if it :
1. changes day / night screen brightness automatically (TT doesn't, I3 did)
2. does speed camera alerts on current road if no route selected (TT doesn't, I3 did)
3. displays current speed on the main mapping screen (TT does, I3 didn't)
4. announces more than one turn ahead (TT does to excess, but I3 didn't - meaning you could enter a roundabout without knowing what exit you had to take)
Cheers,

1. yes
2. yes(it does on tt too, gives you an option after choosing sound)
3. same as i3, so yes, but not when your following a route plan.
4. again, it will be the same as i3. Normally 2 announcements. _________________ Samsung Mega

TomTom does, just de-select 'Warn When On Route' in Manage POIs

This can be configured on TomTom, there is an option to remove one of the enable/disable one of the advance warnings. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the replies. So that's TomTom 2, Garmin 2. Maybe if I put them both in a particle accelerator the perfect SatNav will emerge from the wreckage

I have the TT set that way now. The problem is that it alerts for every POI (camera) within whatever proximity is set, so you get alerts for roads you're not on.

But that's how "Warn when not on route" is meant to work - to allow you to get warnings for classes of POIs nearby. In any event - if you are on main roads then it's not too often that you will be warned about cameras on side roads, but you may be looking for an ATM or something similar. _________________ Phil |
