Hi All,
I have noticed another problem which occurs with the 920 and possibly other units when you are using it as a bluetooth handsfree kit.
What happens is that if you are on a call the persons speech may get corrupted as in someone may say to you are you going to the party then the unit will stop and just keep repeating party,party,party.... until you switch the unit off, there is no other way of stopping it, or the unit itself will hang when it says a direction such as turn Left, left,left..... again unitil you switch it off.
I should add this is my second 920 and they both done this, anyone know of a cure, or quick workaround?
My latest 720T still does it, but seems to only happen with my SE W800.
To date I've had:
520, Aug 07, PCWorld, faulty mic
520, Aug 07, PCWorld, faulty mic
520, Aug 07, Argos, this fault
520, Jan 08, Argos, this fault
720T, Jan 08, this fault
720T, Jan 08, this fault
The fault does not seem to be fixed by software updates (happens on all versions from 7.010). Reset to default does not fix it (all software versions). Clear flash does not resolve it (tried on latest available software). Delete and readd bluetooth connection does not fix (all versions).
A £20 Jabra BT headset does fix the problem completely though. And works as a phone on my laptop for VoIP and Skype. Happy days
And its not specific to just my w800. My w850 does it too I discovered today.
I know DennisN had at least one unit with this fault. Care to comment on your progress Dennis?
Otherwise, I've given up with TT handsfree. I've accepted that it's a great satnav, and nothing more. With the drop in price (£300 for 520 in Aug'06 vs £220 for 720T Jan'07) I'm looking at a Parrot bluetooth solution @ £50-70.
