|

I have just upgraded from a Vario II to a Vario III and am hoping the lockups may ease?
I used my 18 month old micro-sd card, took off files that were not on original copy of TomTom sd card (except PocketGPS files and Joanna) and placed in Vario III which asked for activation. It worked with original code and was pleased that it linked to internal GPS easily.
Now wondering if I buy a new Microsd card and duplicate files, can I use my old PDA for TomTom navigation when I havnt taken new pda out?
Not worth speaking to TT support, they always refused to discuss simplest problem (not working caus i'd put stray files in a tidy folder) even when they must have known the answer, just because Vario II not on their supported list. Does anyone know if Vario III is officially supoorted? |

The licence details only permit you to activate the map on a single device for use at any one time so unless you puchase a second copy (or new map) then you cannot legally use the product on two devices - Mike |

But will it activate on 2 devices concurrently? It will only be used on one at a time and by the same owner, so legally its bosh, as I have bought it! Surely the legal side is aimed at stopping duplicate copies being spread, not penalising legit owners. |

Activation is limitted to the following:
First device = Day 01
Second device seven days after device 01
Third device after a further 6 months
However the licence dictates you can only have the product on a single device at any point in time, So you could activate a second or even third device if the time span is correct - Mike |

Mike, thanks for info. So I've had it on first device for 15 months, 2nd device (which will be my current phone/pda) for a few days now. If I also now activate on first device, are you saying, it will then not work on my current 2nd device? If so, I'm glad I asked! |

It won't stop it working, there is an element of trust that is expected by users of the software - Mike |

Hi
I have just found a similar problem. Originally installed TTN6 on an IPAQ about 12 months ago, then on a HTC Touch phone about 2 months ago. Phone was faulty so has just been replaced but can't get TTN6 to activate onnew phone !!! Any suggestions?
Thanks |

Contact TomTom support on Monday by phone (0845 161 0009) and explain the problem, you should be also be prepared to send by fax or e-mail a copy of the paperwork detailing the device swap, if it was replaced there will be paper work and they will most probably want to see this as evidence that the original device was broken - it shouldn't be too a bigger deal though - Mike |
