I have a Navman F20 which is working fine on its own.
Connected a T1 TMC traffic module.
When I go into preferences / traffic on the F20 it tells me to connect the traffic module.
I slotted the TMC on the bottom of the F20 and it clicked into place.
I have connected the external aerial.
I cannot see any other setting up required.
Any ideas? |

Have you a copy of the T1 Manual - you can download it from the Navman site.
Is there no TMC logo in the bottom left of the screen when it is connected?
My T1 sometimes does not 'click' at both sides of the connection...just wiggle it a bit and see if that helps.
If you are not in an area receiving a signal, try leaving it attached and driving around as normal and it may suddenly appear.
What external aerial are you using? Is it a Magmount or the stick on one supplied with the T1?

I have the manual, but it does not help a lot.
There is no TMC logo on the screen.
The black plastic mount came with the F20.
It looks like it fits with both the F20 and the T1 properly.
Both click into place.
I thought of driving around with it connected, but the fact that I cannot set the preferences (e.g. radio station) makes me think that the problem is to do with connecting. |

How are you powering the setup? the power lead MUST be connected to the T1 via the supplied addaptor, this in turn supplies the power to the F20 via the connection shoe on the bottom of the device. With no power to the T1 shoe you won't get any TMC indication on the screen (which is what you describe) - Mike |

It is a black plastic unit about 20MM long with a round plug that goes in the power socket of the T1 the other end is fitter with a mini USB socket that accepts the existing F20 power cable.
This is your problem without a doubt, once the power is applied correctly it will spring to life - Mike |

That sounds like the problem.
I remember the mini USB and wondering what that was for.
So take me through it please.
The cable from the cigarette lighter goes into F20 or T1?
The mini USB goes where? |

Put the addapter on the end of the ciggy plug power lead then insert the plug and addapter into the T1, the socket is on the right hand side of the T1 towards the rear as you look at the screen from the front.
Once plugged in with the F20 on the shoe switch it on with the ignition on to power the ciggy socket and you should get a blue TMC box on the screen, it will turn green when the unit is receiving data and red if there is a problem on your route - Mike |
