Hi,
I am posting this on behalf of my father. I am a Garmin user so know little about tomtoms.
He recently bought the USA maps while they were half price. Today he got his memory card (2 gig). He has installed the usa map to his memory card via the latest version of Home. He was given the choice where to store it so naturally chose the card. The download was successful if a little slow. He has now gone into the tom tom unit to try out the maps but cannot find them. He has gone to the manage maps option but cannot get any further. Anyone have any ideas? If you need more info I can phone him and get the info you need.
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers, Rich |

The first thing to do is a Full Backup using Explorer. See #1 of the FAQs Page.
Next is to try a Reset.
This is where the Reset Hole is. _________________ Richard

Hi,
Did the backup for him when he got it. So that is ok. I'll tell him to try the reset. Will the reset wipe anything?

Other than the current time (easily changes via Preferences), no. |

Please confirm, was the backup done with windows explorer, and was it of BOTH the internal memory and the SD card?
What does he see when he goes to manage maps?
Does he have TT "Home" v2.1 or 2.2?
In "Home" he should be able to re-install the map onto the SD card from your PC (where it is initially downloaded to) using "Add Maps". If that is still not successful, it is possible to re-download a map you've bought for upto a year.
Try the simple fixes first and report back. |
