|
|
I fairly recently updated the maps on my 720 to v710 - that was an adventure in itself, as like many others I couldn't get the Latest Map Guarantee to work. Also like many other TT ended up manually adding the updated map to my account so I could download it.
All seemed well. However I've just noticed that I no longer seem to have the separate Canary Islands map. I've taken a look at the 710 map and though they are included in the main "Western Europe" map the detail level isn't great - it only shows the major roads. I then checked the TT shop and it still indicates that the Canary Islands should be a separate map, albeit one that's included when you buy WE.
So, can I ask other v710 users out there - do you have the Canary Islands as a separate map, and if so is it higher detail than whats included in the main Western Europe map?
I really don't want to face TT's customer service effort unless I really have to, so thought I'd check with you guys first... |

rmines.....
The Map you need is Canary Islands v660.1045
Its a good level of detail but needs the POI's updated....
Mine is still on my old iPaq 3950 using the old Co-Pilot GPS sleeve. |

The Western Europe 1GB map I downloaded to the One XL (v710.1561) has the Canary's down to street level (they like their one-way systems). It's all in the one map on my smaller version though.
The x20s get a bigger map. It should be a separate map to the rest of Europe. Have you tried switching maps to see if it's there - Change Preferences | Manage Maps | Switch Maps. _________________ Gerry

Disagree about the seperate map bit Gerry...
The Canaries is now included in the main map with v710 (certainly with the W+CE map), rather than being a separate download with v705 and earlier.
I don't have the WE v710 so I can't check that.
I agree the TomTom website still says it is separate, but I'd put that down to them not updating the website properly.
On the detail front, here is a random location in the Canaries on the 710 W+CE Map:
and the same location on my separate v705 Canary Islands map:
So the detail looks the same, and it's certainly street level detail for this town.
Does that help?
Stuart, I think you might be introducing a red herring because the v660 was the "rogue" map from Navteq not TeleAtlas.
"rmines", if it bothers you why not just re-install the original Canaries Islands map you had, alongside the new one?
You will need to switch maps to see it, but you'll be able to compare them (just like I did) and as it's only tiny, you might as well keep it "just in case". |

Serves me right for putting the info from the website into my post. The 1GB map shows all but the cul-de-sacs off the highlighted roads on your screenshots which fair enough. _________________ Gerry

No red herrings meant Andy, I haven't got the WE or the WE +CE 710 maps yet, haven't got any Euro driving planned just yet.
I must save up my pocket money just in case...... |

Many thanks for the responses. I've taken a look at the same map as posted and I do indeed get the same decent level of detail - think I must have been looking at a fairly barren area when I did my random check.
The web site is pretty confusing which didn't help, but clearly I was a bit too quick too assume the info on TT's own site was correct... :-)
Thanks again. |
