I'm back onto TomTom support about this. They don't seem aware of the issue yet as they were saying it must be a problem with the device code.
I didn't "cheat" and buy the wrong map, this is the map they assigned to me, so they're going to have to find an explanation.
I've copied the webaddress of that American forum post to them as well. |

I bought the new discounted W & C Europe map and had trouble installing it. I tried to resolve vi their messaging system without success. They asked me to let them know when I could take a phone call and they would contact me.
TT were great, a guy phoned me back on Thursday at an agreed time and talked me through it.
Major issues were:
I was still running version 6.2 instead of a version 7 on my TT.
I had to uninstall TomTom Home and reinstall 2.2 then update it.
It then downloaded the new map onto my PC then onto the TT unit.
I now have map share and other goodies. I have updated it through mapshare and put in a couple of corrections of my own and shared them.
I have tried the TT out now and it clearly indentified a new road nearby.
I have reinstalled Pocket GPS speed cameras.
I am therefore well pleased and my TT has a new lease of life. |

So does this mean that if you buy the 1785MB ver 7.10 map for (WE)and try to use it on an SD card in a One XL Europe that TT will not offer support?
For some reason you are offered the 1785MB map for a Go520 but only the 953MB for an XL _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

It's looking that way...
TT have always insisted that the "larger" versions of maps will not work on "leeser" models of hardware (even though we know that isn't true).
Not it seems they have got Home to enforce this opinion. |

Can you not use an earlier version of Home software to install the download though?
I thought there was a version of Home on the supplied disk, why do you need to keep updating this PC software at all is beyond me, if the software supplied with the device doesn't work with the new downloads complain and DO NOT accept being fobbed off, was there anything in the contract when you purchased the device or new map that dictated the supplier could move the goal posts? I think not - Mike |

No you can't use that one (v1.5 / 1.6) It has to be v2.

In the hope that they will finally produce a stable, working version?
I don't think this particular problem is down to the particular v2 version anyway. I was using v2.2 for a couple of days before that message started appearing. |

Come on... you should know me better than that by now, Mike!
To be fair though, I have never had any of the problems that seem to plague other people, with ANY version of Home I've used.
I've always been able to download updates, download maps, download mapshare, download the .dlls to run the emulator, upload corrections etc.
Just lucky I guess...
But I still hate the "look and feel" of it as a program. |

This is the first problem I've had with TTH.
Although, rather then being a bug, it looks like it's by design.
Not certain on the layout of v2 tho. v1 wasn't great, but at least everything was on one screen. |

Any more news on this?
I've tried a newer version of TTH and also an older one.
Nothing works.
Looks like a call to TomTom may be in order. |
