|
|
Hi All,
I have a 920 that I have had for a few weeks now. It is working fine, but I find that sometimes, after it has been powered off, it turns itself back on within a few mins. It is not bumping the case and powering on as I have seen it do it on my desk.
this can be a pain, as it runs until the battery dies.
has anyone seen this before?
Many thanks for the input. |

I've observed this on my review unit. The cause appears to be having an active route, if you 'cancel route' on the device it will then switch off. Does this work for you?
Before I read this I also found that resetting would cure it. I have passed this issue to TomTom for their comment. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've had it happen to me - it's interesting to see faces when they hear my pocket say, in a (Volume 100%!!) sexy computer voice, "Turn around when possible".
I thought it was Senior Moment forgetting to switch it off! _________________ Dennis

It happen's on my 520 too I have been sitting in the living room and my phone makes a noise I couldn't work out why until one time I had it on the side and I saw it was pairing with my TT. I went out to the car on the drive to find my TT had turned on sometimes after more than an hour after I had turned it off and not had a route selected. Not happened for a while though (touch wood) don't know why maybe after one of the resets it's stopped. _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.

Apologies for shouting, but WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT LEAVING IT OUT THERE IN THE CAR? Are you rich or something? _________________ Dennis

I wish it took me long enough to talk the wife into letting me have this one. I then had to talk her into the SD card and the US Map which was fairly easy as I used the old you won't have to navigate. But she won't let me have the Speed Camera database.
The little old ladies and men that live in my area are quite trust worthy, they only go around in gangs on full moons. _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.

Well, imagine how long it will take you to persuade her to let you get a new one and lots of glass for the car too.
Don't leave it out there again, EVER! Would you leave your wallet on view in there? Maybe your wallet's worth more than the TomTom (mine isn't, even though I've just drawn my pension). _________________ Dennis

You think that is bad, last Friday I stopped at the Pease pottage services at the end of the M23. I put the TT in my pocket for safety, but didn't turn it off. I was standing in the toilet in mid flow, minding my own business, when my TT boomed out "Turn around when possible". The bloke along from me advised me to make sure I had finished first !!!!
I could get out of there quick enough

Has anyone found a "fix" for this? It seems that it effects all of the TTs?
Should I send it for repair? |

It only ever affected my 920. Have you tried a soft reset or 'cancel route'? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It is funny, or rather, ironic, that folks want their 920's to turn on when they turn on the ignition key but can't have it, yet other 920's turn on whenever they want. TT needs to create a hybrid device that does both - correctly. |

I tried the soft reset, that did not seem to help.
I can turn it off with the clear route - but surely we do not need to do this each time?
it is odd, as it seems to happen randomly. you can not get it to happen every time. |
