|
|
Hi folks,
Me again!
I'm trying to install some celebrity voices onto my Tomtom.
I've downloaded the files, plugged the Tomtom in and opened it via My Computer and then found the voice files (3 per voice) and copied and pasted into the voices folder in the Tomtom's My Computer section. I then detach the USB cable and the Tomtom fires up...
I thought that was it and I was doing it all correctly but when I go to change the voice my new ones aren't there?
Anyone got any thoughts please.
Thanks again,
Ian |

what is the name of the 3 files you have. Also are you disconnecting in TT Home and not just pulling out the usb cable. Also when you are prompted with choose voice with the same language you should select NO and this will show all voices. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

One is labelled "data", one has an extention of .chk and the last has an extention of .vif
All i'm literally doing is copying to the voices file and then unplugging the cable. I do have the Tomtom Home open at the time but I do nothing at all with that.
Thanks

when you look at the root of your TT and then click on"voices" can you see the three files you mentioned for each voice. if so then try changing the voice again and when you move along to the next voice you are prompted with something like"select voice in the same language" you select no as the voices you are using are american and they are different to theunit. Give that a try and see what happens.
When you are finished with your unit you should disconnect it from TT home at the top of the page in "device-disconnect" and that will safely remove your device and make sure all work is done before it disconnects. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Fantastic... spot on. I was thinking in "text" for language and was worried that if I selected something other than English the whole unit would switch to German or French
Thanks very much.
