On my poi file it's just under 2,000kb. Yet when updating a friends TTOne his file is 10 times as large !!
So i copied his file into my unit but you would think all these extra locations would be shared via Home downloads ? _________________ TT 500

It's actually called "poi.dat". The confusion arises because your PC has been left set up to HIDE the complete file names from you.
To fix that, so we can more easily discuss things, you should go to either My Computer or Windows Explorer and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"
(While you are there, you could also TICK 'Show hidden files and folders" too. While not strictly neccessary, this will let you see EVERYTHING on your PC's and TomTom's storage).
As to why the poi.dat files are different sizes, have you got a "regional" (i.e. UK and Ireland only) machine, and he's got a Europe-wide version?
If that is the case, his will obviously be bigger, as it covers so many more countries! |
