Hey,

I purchased a 970 on the weekend. and it says on the box thats its a 2D+3D view display.

after opening the box. I selected 3D, which then happen to turn out 2D!

Does anyone know is there a ways of re-selecting 3D view?

Thanks..

Set up a route...... select guidance. Go to MAIN menu. Select Display then 2D/3D mode and make your choice. Wink

You appear to be confusing 3D view. In TomTom, 3D means a birds eye view from above and looking ahead, where as 2D is looking straight down as if looking at a map.

It is not 3D in the sense that all contours and buildings are represented on the map.

I can access the 3d view when following a route only, not when just tracking my position. Just got the unit at Christmas so not sure if there's a way around this.

You don't need an active route to see the 3D view. If you do not enter a route you will still see your position in 2 or 3D?

I get lost in navigating the various screens and so far have only been able to navigate to the 2D/3D option button if I have a route entered Crying or Very sad But then, I'm pretty green to this device at the moment.

At the moment I am having great trouble in trying to install the software (Content Manager) on my laptop with the Vista Home Premium OS. It just will not recognise the device. I believe that Active Synch will not work on Vista and that one has to use Win Mobile Device - am I right? I installed it on my PC with Win XP installed and there was no problem at all.

You are incorrect, as the 3D mode is only available in route mode, as stated in the manual. This is one of my several complaints of the system as I normally only use 'free navigation' mode for the majority of the time, which is only available in 2D.
