Just bought a Sony NV-U92TW and I am trying to install the safety camera feature. All I get is "An error occured. File has not been copied"

Phone Sony - awaiting a call back from a technical specialist.

Also tried to remove languages using the option on the CD and get "There is not enough free storage on the selected drive"!!

Anyone solved these problems?

Hi There,

I've just bought the 72T. Over all it's working well and doing a good job, even the TMC is working Smile , however, I'm having similar problems with the speed camera database and get the same error Sad .

One other problem I've had, when I go into route planning and input a relatively log route, say 300 miles or so, the unit crashes halfway through its calculations and flashes up an error about the memory card before rebooting. Has anyone else seen this? Is is a memory problem and would removing the languages improve things do you think?

Cheers

Hilbert.

Mega weird.

Sony phoned back again - went through the same steps and it all now works!!

Must have been the vibes from the sony man that did it [or maybe it just needs a few days of operation to sort itself out].

Hi aj_irishman,

Glad to hear yours is working now. I'll give it another try too. Did you delete some languages before installing the speed cameras?

Cheers,

Hilbert

no - just re-executed the download and it worked this time. I did notice that a number of .tmp files in the top level of the device [seen via explore in ActiveSync] had been deleted [a house keeping function must have run].

If you can delete unwanted languages then I would - I believe a space issue is somehow involved. My other trouble was that deleting languages didn't work either.

Hello there!

I have the unit for about a week, and no matter how many times I tried to install the speed cameras I have failed.
I downloaded the file (it is active on my profile at the Sony website), but no matter what I do it wont install. I run Windows XP and ActiveSync works. I doubleclick the file and then I get a "file copied" notification. Then I disconnect, it is "loading" as if something will happen but the Advanced Warning menu never appears.

I emailed Sony a week ago but no reply which is a joke!

I like the device, but i think I will take it back unless the cameras work.
Could you please tell me the number you phoned as I couldnt find it anywhere?

Many thanks
S

May thanks aj_irishman!

I also uninstalled a few languages, but no luck again. However, your mention to memory made me look further and I found that the device has 206mb free and the safety camera file is 485kb.

Could you please tell me in which folder in the device does the file get copied?

I also tried to uninstall a few countries but this is not an option!. Its either Europe A or Europe B alltogether and you cannot select only one country. Very frustrating.......

Pass, Couldn't find the safety camera POI files - not obvious, at least to me.

When you run the installation CD you see all the languages that are installed on your machine - I removed all except english [you can always reinstall them from the CD of needed].

Hi,

With a Sony NV-U71T, I try to install the new software version 2.00.07 (cf http://support.sony-europe.com/eve/navigation/downloads/update.asp?l=fr&f=nv_5171).

I get an error when trying to install : "There is not enough free storage capacity on the selected drive" Crying or Very sad

I test installation from 2 different PCs (XP pro and 2000), and with 2 different versions of ActiveSync (including the last one) without success.

I manually copied the uncompressed files from the HDD to the GPS temp directory to verify there is no space available problem.

Now, I have no idea.

If somebody can help me...

After one nice review, I bought NAV-U 92T and there is no bluetooth and only EuropeA map, not EuropeB.

How can I switch/upgrade map in my device?

What is NVD-U11E Map update and how to use that.

There is no info on sony web site. Evil or Very Mad

I assume you've found the SONY FAQ - http://support.sony-europe.com/faq/faq.asp?l=en&c=eve&f=nvd_U11E&m=nvd_U11E

Where did you get this update - the only info I can find on it is from czech websites.
