Hi all
Sorry if this is in the wrong section? With thanks to jonandmarkuk's review and (pm) ive happily decided to buy a X-980T..
Thinking it was a clever idea ( ) ive purchased a used unit..
Now looking into it im not sure if ive messed up..Unit is in good nick, with 1 years warranty left..
My questions are these? If the units already been registered, can i re register it on net with me as new owner and still get the upgrades/?
Ive just realised (and guessing) as its a year old its going to have v6 on it? ViaMichelin say i can upgrade to 6.3 for free,But should i just go straight for v7?
Units complete..SD 2 and DVD of Europe, but is set to French,Will i have to reload new maps or should UK be covered?
Will i need the external TMC aerial?as its not with the unit..
Anything else i should do/know?
Am very sorry for all the questions,,but any help or tips would be really appreciated.... Am guessing i should have just gone brought the New Version straight away,,as guessing by time ive updated this unit it will work out the same..
Many thanks again in advance..

AFAIK the 980T only came with full European maps so the UK should be covered by your mapping.
Yes, you will need the external TMC aerial if you want use TMC , it won't work without it.
You should be able to get it out of French mode by going to :-
Main Menu,Options,General,Language and changing to English
as long as your French is good enough to do the translation of the above menus.
Not sure about reregistering it and updates , you probably need someone from ViaMichelin to answer that.
Good luck |

Thanks so much buddy.
Appreciate your time.. Have got a mate who can speak French,so now i know the order to change it in..
I wasnt sure if there was a TMC aerial built in..I'll order one now,as they are only around a tenner.
Dads thinking about taking this one, which gives me the option of a new unit with V7 onit..Or the TT920...Would you advise the V7 upgrade .does this then allow me to upgrade to the V7.03 etc as they come out?
Thanks again for your advise..
Would appreciate a ViaMichelins guy advice on reregistering?

I really dont have any experience regarding the benefits of V7 over V6 as my 980T came with V7. I think from other postings V7 is a big improvement though. Once you have V7 then the upgrades to 7.0.3 and presumably other are free , but V8 is due next year and there is a question as to whether that will be free to V7 owners. |
