Very interesting reading.
I've just purchased a TMC (latest version from e-bay £22) after reading other postings.
Thought I'd add my observations - looks like I've been very lucky
Unit once connected picked up signal immediately.
Whilst busy postioning TT unit in the car I noticed I was still getting a signal with the antenna in the footwell. Hating having wires showing I ran it around the dash, coiled it up and put it in the 'coin holder'.
The mushroom was next to the windscreen pillar - another no no I believe.
Moved unit to another car with TT in the center and the antenna coiled up. Again no issues - unit has worked perfectly up and down the M6
What I'm I doing wrong!!!! _________________ Garmin nuvi 2595LMT

Yep - installed it at the weekend - not noticed any difference with the TMC performance.

That update was for RDS-TMC service provider (ie iTIS vs TrafficMaster) as per license agreements rather than any functional changes.
Since the service provider in the UK remains unchanged, looking for immediate service improvements is perhaps a little optimistic. _________________ Andy

|
|
This might have been asked elsewhere but cant find it with search.
Couple of months ago we had a bad crash on one of our main roads and the system dowloaded correctly that the road was closed.
Couple months later and it still thinks its closed - constantly trying to route you round it. System is updating other traffic fine.
Any ideas on how to clear this? |

Are you sure it's definitely the traffic info which has closed the road and not a MapShare update? _________________ Andy

If you'd like to give us the coordinates some of us can check on our own devices. _________________ Anita

Too far North for me to check, unless you live within circa 100 Miles North or South of Edinburgh or Glasgow you won't receive data for this area using RDS-TMC although the GPRS system should cover full UK but that introduces other variables as it is suppied via the servers at TomTom - Mike |

Even further from me!
But it doesn't seem to be due to a MapShare "correction". I planned a route with all but "Corrections reported by some" selected (I haven't downloaded those), and it took me straight along the A720 Edinburgh Bypass. I tried it in both directions.
Solobay, have you tried planning a route along this stretch of road both with and without the traffic receiver connected? _________________ Anita

Tried it without and no closed road
Plug in the TMC and up it pops as soon as the first download finishes |
