I have used an Integral 4Gb SDHC Class 4 card in a GO520 so it should also work in a 720. _________________ Tim |

tried a 8Gb SDHC (Sandisk) in my TT520 this morning and it showed up as a 4Gb card in Windows disk management.
Anyone else tried an 8Gb card?

Yes, I think MikeAlder does...
I think I remember reading something about it being in two halves and you have to start filling up the first half before the rest suddenly appears. Could be totally wrong though.... |

I have just tried an 8Gb Sandisk Ultra II SDHC Class 4 card. It is not recognised at all when in the device, either by HOME2 or Windows Explorer (I get a "USB device not recognised" error). When used in an SDHC card reader it shows as an 8Gb device, though.
I might try to format it, or put in excess of 4Gb worth of data on it using the card reader and see what the GO makes of it thereafter.
Edited to add:- After a brief wait, I was then told that the other device wasn't formatted, but at least its presence was recognised. _________________ Tim |

Yes I do have an 8GB card (Peak class 6) and yes it does work, I did have to fill it up for the second half of the card in order to see it.
Been a tad busy at work today so not much forum time, AN124 loaded but not flown as we ran out of time (daylight) - Mike |

tried the 8Gb Sandisk card again - will only do 4Gb. Wrote approx 3.7Gb to it and then tried copying a 500Mb file - got disk full.
Either the TomTom only works with certain cards or I've got a dodgy 8Gb card.

Looks like the SDHC is fine with the 720, but if anyone has an older unit or uses the card in multiple devices and wants a non-HC card, Transcend makes a 4GB non-HC card (model TS4GSD150) that's worked in TomToms, Garmins, Mios, and Nikon digicams for me.
Spend the extra $$ and get the 150x version; the 40x has had some serious reliability issues.
Newegg.com usually has the best price, but Amazon is good too. |
