Stu

Just tried your hack.. Excellent . works like a charm. Wink So much so I went and bought a 512MB card so I can add some other stuff such as games and some PDA stuff.

Cheers

P.S. Don't forget to check your PMs Smile

Stu, I'd be happy to post the files but they are pretty big. If you send me a pm with your address I could put a CD in the post for you.

I also tried some freebie CE installs with no success. I was able to install with no problem but kept getting "cannot find <app name>.exe or one of its components" message when trying to run the app.

One app did work OK though. that was Calc98
http://www.calculator.org/download.html

but it's set for the screens on normal PDAs i.e portrait, so couldn't use it properly.

I did find an app at http://microsoft.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=75&sectionId=0&catalog=0&productType=2&platformId=2&productId=16346
that can change the orientation. I tried the demo but that gives the same error message as above. Being a bit of a fiddler I dug around for answers and found that the main reason that kept popping up was that there were missing .net compact framework files. I took a risk and installed version 1 of CF .. still didn't work after resetting the RoadCom. Worse still ActiveSync would not connect after that Crying or Very sad ... More fool me Crying or Very sad . Just thought you'd like to know this in case you think of trying the same thing.

Anyway. I'm off to see if I can fix the Activesync problem.

Cheers

Apologies for all those posts I was being thick and didn't realise they were all going onto the next page Embarassed

Anyway the weird thing is I plugged in the RoadCom this morning and ActiveSync worked fine... Strange... Not sure what I did there .. Guess I'll leave well alone now until I know what I'm doing.

Cheers

Hi all,

looks like there are some .DLLs missing in the regular CE.net 4.2 build on the RoadCOM.
Seems that M$ ripped a load of stuff out when moving from CE 3.0 to CE 4.2 to make room for the .Net stuff:?

Thsi is a well-known problem also when trying to get PPC (CE3.0) apps to run on a HPC (CE2.x) or CE.net (CE4.x): a good article on the differnces is here:
http://www.psionteklogix.com/assets/downloadable/WindowsCE_PPC.pdf

You might have more luck if you put these files in the \windows directory:

there's a few stubs/missing files here:
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/2039/dummydll.zip

you might also need GAPI:
http://wincesoft.com/html/ppc_apps_on_hpc_s.html

gd lk!

Lets take this up again. I have a Holux gpsmile 51 (same as Roadcom 300).
I succesfully installed TomTom 6.01 with reg-hack. There was some problem that tomtom couldn't found any maps, but I had to edit registry a little bit more and it worked Smile

Next step is to try OziExplorer CE..can someone confirm is it possible to get Ozi Ce working with this device? Also tried Smart2go, it worked well but I didn't found any maps to it. I know that there is smart2go maploader but no luck with it Confused

can anyone repost the registry hack of slash909 as the link is not working.

also, does the power switch still works. i used the one for the medion reg hack and the only problem is that the power button does turn off the thing. i had to go to the start button to suspend. the power button will turn on the thing but will not turn it off like it orginally did.
