Not having gone through the 675 Map upgrade I can't give any personal opinion on that. I would say that £40 for a Map that covers all Europe is pretty good value.
But Mapshare, via software V7.xxx, is available to you so there could be a benefit that way. _________________ Richard

Yes, Western Europe 7.10 contains the GB and NI maps. |

Decided to upgrade to Map of Western Europe.
Purchased the map on TomTom's web site this morning.
Still waiting for Home to show the download.. over 6 hours later.
TomTom web site states that its "COMPLETED, Paid", the new map shows up on their website under My Maps - but has no product code.
If the processing of my order is electronic then why does it take them so long to make the download available in TT Home I wonder.
I've sent them a support question - fat lot of good it will do though. Last notification preference I had kept replying to me in Dutch so I ended up finding that NavCore 7 was released for my Go from reading PocketGPS World
I think they should provide a download via their web site as well, and not be reliant on the Home software - especially when the Mac version is so far behind as well!
Cheers TomTom! _________________ TT GO Original / v7 / 1GB SD - Mac's with 10.6 Snow Leopard - iPhone 3G with CoPilot, Navigon & NDrive - Linux PC with Crunchbang. |

They can't/won't do that because all the security locking of a map to a unit is done through Home now. |

They need to do something - like update Home for Mac users.
I decided to fire up Parallels VM and use Home V2 (PC) on my Intel Mac and guess what - Map of Western Europe was available for download (and is downloading now)
TT state right at the bottom of the map download page (in tiny text) that Home V2 is required - which I didn't see originally.. but it does mean, for who knows how long, that Mac users are excluded from the new Map updates and Map Share.
I wonder what would have happened if I tried to download/install the map from within Home on the Mac?
Its just a case of consistency - which I think is slipping away from TomTom at the moment, I feel!

TomTom has been clear that Home 2 does not support Mac yet.
They are working on it, as they know they have the best Mac compatibility in their competitive space. It will come, as TT uses Linux and Mac is UNIX. Just a question of time. |

To be fair, on the page before you select which map you want, they say it in exactly the same size type as the rest of the page, along with a "please note" in bold
Quote: | Please note:
* In order to successfully download a new map, please ensure that you accept the free upgrade to TomTom HOME 2.1 and update the software on your device when prompted. |
and then when you have entered your TT model and are about to say which map you want, you get a big pop-up box that says the same thing (although this time it is preceded by "Remark" in red)
Or maybe the pop-up boxes don't work on the Mac's browser either? |

Just connected my Go720 via Home 2 and it has given me the option to download Map of Western Europe 710, size 1743.2MB.
As I'm of to Slough later today and won't be back till tomorrow it will have to wait. Presumably this is as a result of complaints I have made to TomTom regarding the Map Guarantee option not working. _________________ Graham.
