HI-401-BT + HI-303XXX + Dell Axim X3i

Hi,

I'm totally new to the GPS-talk... Embarassed

But, I ordered myself a Dell Axim X3i (so I don't have it yet) and I'm planning to order a PPC GPS kit. While checking the online sites, I discovered Haicom.
As the Axim X3i has Bluetooth, I'm planning to buy the BT slipper and a 303XXX card (it's sold in a package). Now I already discovered here that HI-303E is not so interesting. So I guess I should take the BT slipper in combination with the HI-303MMF?

Has anyone tried this before? I'm a bit unsure if this will work... I saw an article where someone had serious troubles using Haicom BT and TomTom...

And, HI-303XXX is CF, but the X3i has SD, so I won't be able to plug that card into my PPC if the bluetooth fails...

I just want to make sure I'm going to buy the correct GPS kit Mr. Green

Oh yeah, I will mostly be using it in my car...

What made you select the Haicom? What are your criteria? Why not, for example, a Fortuna ClipOn ?

A friend of mine uses haicom too.
Why would I choose it? It's not too expensive, I can buy it in Belgium...

I just need a gps receiver for my Dell, which I will be using mostly in the car & with TomTom.

I've been using this combination for a while now with an Ipaq 4150 and have no problems with it (Apart from when I first got it) You need to make sure that the GPS is the version that will work with the slipper. There are 2 that dont. Read the write up.

I have used it with Tom Tom without any probs. And the batteries last ages too. 10 hours +

I also use this combo (clipper and 303e cf) and haven't had any problems (other than the first cf card being faulty on arrival).

Been running it for a couple of months with an ipaq 2210, I have it permanently plugged into a power socket in the boot of my car and use an external antenna as the bt unit is in a storage compartment with no view of the sky.

I have had excellent performance with no hassles - even with it permanently being on charge. Even with the e version I regularly see 10 sats, have no problems under trees or in city streets and have even had 12 sats showing in tomtom on a couple of occassions.

I've also used it in cf mode whilst walking and had no problems again.
