An early suggestion would be something around Newbury or Southampton, I might also suggest Oxford.
Southampton by the coast would be nice and be good for both Dennis and Tim but if anyone is a bit north of London the preference may be either Newbury or Oxford.
Anyone familiar with these areas? _________________ Dom

Nice idea. If we could slightly unimpromptu it and set a Saturday night somewhere, I'd be happy to drive there, preferably near a cheapo inn (travelodge, Premier etc) so that I could have tipple myself instead of merely squandering my daughter's inheritance on a load of spongers (or sponges even).
If you want to avoid me and can afford your own snorts, set it for Saturday 1st December when I can't go! _________________ Dennis

Premier Inns - Basingstoke, Andover, Winchester, Eastleigh, Salisbury all have vacancies 8th December.
Travelodge - Four Marks at Alton has a special offer room for £39 for 8th December. _________________ Dennis

I'll second an 8th Dec. But if someone has any issues with the locations suggested to make themselves known. I personally have no issues with travel and accomadation think Alton could be good.
Anyone north of us interested? _________________ Dom

Its still a very long drive for me from just north of newcastle. But possibly could be an option. I think there are only 2 more people north of me arn`t there? No chance of making it a bit further north? _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

I don't know what to say now. I'd have thought driving down that far is not worth it, even if DennisN is offering a free beer or two, although the more the merrier, say I.
I had rather hoped when "we" started thinking of a southern venue, that others might also consider a separate more northern one too - strikes me a get together of this nature is not as worthy as the annual pgpsw Expo, for which I'll make a special effort, no matter where it happens.
So, what shall we do? There seem to be 5 takers at present for a southern one, shall we agree to Alton 8th December and then see how many more we can tempt? - time's getting on and folk will be making other arrangements. _________________ Dennis

I already have, or I might consider it.
That's if girlies (especially old girlies) are allowed. _________________ Anita

I have booked in to Travelodge at Alton Four Marks, 8th December, because I'm a cheapskate and the price is right!!
They don't have a bar, but there's a pub reasonably nearby.
Anybody else coming, or shall Vera and I be wallflowers? _________________ Dennis

There are no people further west than me!
The title of this thread is mis-leading!
